The art of dancing on stage

 

This topic deals with four famous artists. Using information about and videos of Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Madonna and Lady Gaga an effort is made to look for a line in the art of dancing and performing in American music. The research and the results of studying some videos of the performing artists lead to some conclusions.

 

 

 

 

1. Elvis Presley

 

Elvis Presley moved in a special way. Some people loved it. And other people disliked it.

 

The next video shows an early performance of a young Elvis Presley. The video seems to be a record of a live performance. The legs are shaking but there seems to be no particular and no special meaning ment by the moves. The guitar might prevent Elvis Presley from moving too much too.

In the song: Dixieland Rock Elvis Presley sings about 'swinging hips'. The singer dances more and he dances with and between the audience.

In Jail House Rock Elvis Presley develops his dance moves. The clip is a part of the movie with the same name. This means the song is not performed in front of a live audience. The movie is made in 1957.

Earlier Elvis Presley showed his dance moves on national television when he sang and danced in the television show of Milton Berle on June 5, 1956.

According to the voice over in this video, that seems to be a part of a documentary about Elvis Presley and that shows the same performance of Hound Dog, the dance moves of Elvis Presley created a buzz and generated critics about the implications of his dancing.

2. Michael Jackson

 

In the video clip about his song Thriller Michael Jackson introduces a dance that looks like it is performed by the undeath and zombies.

Thriller is from the long play disc with the same name recorded in 1982.

 

In the video clip of the song Bad Michael Jackson shows the moves he performs on stage in his life concerts too. This moves are not usually accepted nor appreciated in the social community.

3. Madonna

 

Madonna performed raughly from 1982 till 2007.

 

Special critics came about her crusification act in her life show 'Confessions Tour' in the song: 'Live to Tell'.

 

This video seems to be a life registration of the life show.

The song: Material girl empressed a controversial look at the important things of life.

There might be videos with recordings of the life shows of Madonna. They might show the special costumes Madonna used. The costumes were designed in a way most people wouldn't like to wear their clothes in a usual occasion in their daily lives.

4. Lady Gaga

 

Like is stated in another topic Lady Gaga can be seen like the successor of Madonna. The clips and extravaganza costumes Lady Gaga uses point in this direction.

 

The moves and lack of appropiateness Elvis Presley showed are continued by Michael Jackson. Madonna proceeded with this approach in her concerts, life shows and video clips.

 

The moves of the masked persons who crawl out of the covered bath tubes in the clip of Lady Gaga of her song Bad Romance show some resemblance with the moves of the zombies in the clip of Michael Jackson of his song Thriller.

 

The way of performances and performing of the artists discussed in this topic show some alikeness. This shows that a line can be drawn from Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, via Madonna all the way to Lady Gaga.

 

The next video shows the moves of the zombie like futuristic dancers in the video clip of Lady Gaga.

Conclusions

 

This study and research about dance moves on stage in American music leads to some conclusions.

 

The first conclusion can be that artist get inspired by other examples, who looked for the edges of social appreciation.

 

The second conclusion can be that while artists are sometimes seen by their time fellow persons like original artists they in reality copy and continue some ways of performing earlier singers explored before them.

 

The conclusions in this study of the way new themes in performing arts of American popular music are discovered and used to impress the audience can lead to an understanding about how artists, performers and singers use the paths set by their precessors. And it can result in more appreciation of the way artists let themselves be inspired by other great and famous artists.

The special happiness one gets in dancing on stage is incredible. I really appreciate Michael Jackson and Madonna and I love dancing.
