Standalone Mp3 Stream Player How can I code one

Recommended Posts

I am designing a Streaming music site and am a bit stresssed out because some of the things i am trying to achieve are simingly unachievable but i know based on previous experience that Trappers will always help were they can and before I give up or get mad at my Pc or Dreamweaver I should come to my faithfull online family of KS'ers and post my request hopefully i will get help.Basically I want two things. One is a flash player script that plays in all browsers. Currently i am using JW Player from longtail and i find that it doesnt play in all four prominent browsers eg, Safari, chrome, Explorer and Firefox. I think it doesnt work well when i do a test using Firefox or chrome. If I could get a script for a player which will play without hassle in all major brwsers that would be lush. If you have a script you can attach or paste it on here with instructions of how to save it eg save as PHP, ASP HTML etc.Secondly. Now this is slightly more complex. Needs a bit of programming this. So all you programmers can get excited at this point. I need a stand alone player that will automatically stream music from my site without one having to log in to my website. Basically It will be Like Media Player only much smaller. say 300 or 400 pixels wide and 150 high. It will automatically connect to a provided stream link and play music thats is streaming from the server. eg http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I can provide the actually stream server if you want that. It will also have voloume control and a pause/play and refresh button. The face or the skin can be that of a simple boom box or radio.Anyone with links to a site or with code i greatly appreciate your responses.

i found some links of free flash players, i hope they will help a little http://www.dewplayer.fr/

the instruction of installing it is within the page, and if you are using wordpress here is a link to wordpress plugin http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

this is another flash player, you can pick a one and check the documentation to know how to use it

http://flash-mp3-player.net/

another one

http://www.flashmp3player.org/

for your second demand, i think this could be the one you need. a simple and free flash player that plays automatically when your site loads.

http://www.hooverwebdesign.com/flash/free-music-player.html

and this one too do the same work

http://download.cnet.com/Website-Music-Player/3000-2168_4-10512716.html

check those, and if you want more i can point you for more links, good luck.

Thanks Web designer for those links. I hjaven't tried them but just managed to have a look at them i like the first two especially the first one cause it looks more flexible and doesnt have to much size on it. Its minimal and just perfect for a little side script which I came up with over night. You are such a darling WB with out you KS would be a real drag. You are the best sister anyone can ask for.

I will go try those links and see which is best to adapt for my little project and probably get back to you on here if i have used them and what i no longer need or still require **smiles**

In the mean time I am still looking to get a script for this as stated in my first post

Secondly. Now this is slightly more complex. Needs a bit of programming this. So all you programmers can get excited at this point. I dont know if i was clear as to my requirement in this part. Ok Let me try and make hings clearer for those who might not completely understand what Im trying to get her. I am looking to get a STAND ALONE PROGRAM. basically like a .exe file which will be downloaded and installed or unzipped so that even without someone logging into my website and clicking the listen link, if they just start up the little program it will automatically connect to my streaming music server and play what ever audio is being streamed. I hope this sort of gives a more clearer picture of what I want.

Thanks again in advance for the help. Now let me go back to Web Designers Post and see which of those links is perfect for my needs. In the meantime WB, please go ahead and post more links just in case.

I own both JW player license and free, they both play an all browers as long as the browser have flash plugin. I guess the problem that you are having now is an issue on how to embed the flash file. As always, IE loads and embed flash files on a different way which is the case for IE7 and IE8.There are a lot of open source stream player on all major opensource project sites such as freshmeat and sourceforge, it is up to you to pick one which match your needs. Basically, I don't handle this kind of software due to lack of resources to build a streaming server and perhaps partially due to laziness.
