Casanova 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 I been unable to keep up with the required daily postings, so I want to switch to the paid hosting for $10 a year. How do I go about transfering the files in my current (suspended) account to the new one?
krap 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 you would probably need to un-suspend it and move yourself as the paid accounts are on another server
Xedos 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 Yes. Post a few times until you get upwards of 7.00 hosting credits. It should then be automaticly unsuspended in the period of time soon after. Because the hosting accounts are on another server you would then have to download and/or backup all your files if Xisto won't do this for you. Start paying for the new payed host, login to FTP, upload your backup and/or downloaded website. I felt so official writing and/or! Andrew
Casanova 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 The problem is that I have about 40mb of stuff in my current account, and my computer has dial-up, so downloading and re-uploading would take forever . Could it be possible to compress it and then extract it on the other server?
biscuitrat 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 Make a backup in Cpanel and send the .tar.gz compressed folder to your new account and unzip it. Everything should be as you left it.
Casanova 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 Thanks, just 2 more questions:- Since there is no domain included, can I use a free one like uni.cc or .tk?- How long does it take to reacitivate an account? I got +5 credits now.
Xedos 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2005 Not sure how long. You need 7 creditis to be unsuspended.

Or you can register and buy one, but I wouldn't do that unless you're planning on keeping it. And we all know that our domain names change fast when we change our sites! -It's instantaneous. I dipped into negatives (it was scary ) and I brought it up to about 12 and it activated. Now, I would suggest getting 7-10 credits at least so you have some room to move around, or if only to keep your account active, try to post every day or every few days. Dooga 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2005 Actually, I recommend posting approx. 10 posts or more, because 7 might be a bit too small for some users. It is your choice however, and if you are capable of posting every week to fill in what you have lost, then do that, because I trust everyone's own decisions. I once had only 4-5 days left... now I have 42. But of course, I will still post as much as I can! It's not only helping Xisto, but it's fun and kills time.
