What Is Similar In Linux/unix Operating System That Of Process In Windows

Hi..In Windows each applications are running in the operating system with its process running in it.i.e we can notice the process name of all program in the task manager.But I think in Linux or Novell Netware we don't see the process.So please reply me which is the concept in linux ideal to the process in Windows.One of the important dunction of an Operating System is the Process Management.

In a unix terminal you can use the top command to see all processes that are running. You can use the kill command to end certain processes by their IDs, and killall to end processes by their names. Each distro may have their own GUI implementation of this. Perhaps if you tell us what distro you are running I can help you locate a GUI version of top that you may feel more comfortable with.

I'm not sure for Novell Netware, but for Linux, as an alternative to top for the command-line, there is ps. Use ps -A to list all processes without entering a TUI. If you want a visual system monitor, there's KSysGuard, LXTask, and others. Each (popular) desktop environment comes with its own system monitor.
