Evoking Your Spiritual Guide By Name

Many times I have come to a page by some guru, instructing the devotee to "adorn his picture with flowers", and circle it n times repeating their name. Evoking the name has been mentioned by many of these spiritual guides, claiming that only by repeating their name, you will get their attention, and they will bless you.And also in other religions where Jesus Christ is superstar when people Praise Jesus! they are doing the same thing, evoking that image. And they ask a number of things, and sing Jesus... Why is that? what exactly are we doing to them, or are they doing to us?I have been in and out love crushes, and I doubt that thinking about my obsessions would do anything to them, or make them think of me as well.

Actually, the Bible doesn't allow for making images for one to praise and worship or pray to. (Exodus 20:4) If we evoke his name, it is not (or should not be) to evoke an image.

Why is that? what exactly are we doing to them, or are they doing to us?

Given the context, if the adornment is directed to humans or an object, then they do nothing (beneficial) for you.

I have been in and out love crushes, and I doubt that thinking about my obsessions would do anything to them, or make them think of me as well.

In that case, that would be because they are ignorant of what you are doing. But omniscient beings aren't ignorant.
