newms 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2008 Okay, I've had Vista for a few months now but just recently my Windows Explorer has been having problems. It says "Windows Explorer has stopped working" and then I click the option restart the program.I usually have 2 - 5 Explorer windows open and when I click restart the program it closes all of my windows and opens up My Documents.I usually get this error one or two times a day but I'm not doing anything wrong. Is this error only happening to me or has it happened to anyone else.Thanks. Erdemir 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2008 I'm talking about Windows Explorer not Internet Explorer. I mean like My Documents, My Computer... stuff like that.Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are working on the same basic. If you try to type c: in Internet Explorer, it will work as Windows Explorer. And also, if you try to type http://forums.xisto.com/ in Windows Explorer address bar, it will work as Internet Explorer.About your Windows Explorer problem: My laptop came with Windows Vista and I didn't like Vista because of lots of reasons. And setup Windows XP SP2 instead. Maybe you should remove Windows Vista and use Windows XP. I think Windows XP is the best operating system Microsoft has ever built even Vista exists. Saint_Michael 3 Report post Posted August 2, 2008 Lets keep the I hate vista and the switch to XP posts to 0 and give actual support here.Anyway, I did a few google searches and of course it is a coming problem two of the solutions would be to install Vista SP 1 and see if that fixes the problem, if you haven't already installed it. If you have it installed I check out this Microsoft document and download the patch they provide.
IceAge 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2008 This is sometimes caused by Spyware, or a malicious virus infecting explorer.exe. lay down the porn downloads, and porn sites. You wont get any Spyware if you don't visit. (Only messing. - Don't take this personal. ) Make sure you don't visit any suspicious weblinks, on Google, and/or any other sites. Sites with warez downloads often have active threats these days. I recommend using AVG for your browser protection although AVG does cause slow computer performance. Always scan your Computer twice a week, to make sure you have nothing on your computer that is a threat to your system. use CCleaner to scan for Registry issues, and get them fixed asap. Registry entries are often making your computer's performance slow as well. I will make a few Computer Tutorials soon in the Computer section. I hope this helps. iGuest 3 Report post Posted December 4, 2008 I have windows ultimate and also have downloaded SP1. I scan my computer with Norton on a regular basis as well as using ccleaner. I still have a problem with windows explorer crashing randomly. The task bar will simply stop responding and I get the message that windows explorer has stopped and needs to be restarted. I've scanned my computer for spyware and virus' but I don't seem to have any. I have been able to fix the problem. I deeply regreat buying a computer that has vista on it. I had no problems with vista until after I downloaded SP1.
