bizchina 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2004 Delphi is a great langguage , does anyone else Agree? I love the fact that the IDE is so fast - and it compiles really fast too. Also it makes hadling the windows API really easy by putting wrappers round most api functions that make it easy to access. The compiler is very fast. I don't like Delphi 8 though - its biased twoards NET programming - and I don't like microsoft stuff too much. I suggest going for Delphi 9 when you can - and after its been released an update since the current verison is a bit suspect. An update is due soon
bizchina 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2005 To those who are interested - the Delphi 9 update is available now. It has been out since just after Xmas and its really nice to use and (relatively ) bug free. You can download a free version to try it from borland.co.uk - if you use VB I definitely recommend you take a look. It has some cool new features like re-factoring along with a host of components that allow you to do most things without having to purchase any add ons( like sending email - creating XML pages etc etc)

Someone 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2005 Yes I also like it, but I am using pascal, to bad because there is no visual pascal, so are deplhi and pascal the same, If I remember delphi saves files into .pas format and I've seen many programs and there were written that you can compile with borland pascal, free pascal, deplhi 1, deplhi 2 + so I am wondering are they still the same in pas format, so if I know pascal language I know Deplhi lanugage? And is delphi 6 or delphi 7 , 8 and all of them like visual delphi, I hope that this exist, delphi 8 is based for .net so I think that it should be like visual delphi so that I can easily create GUI applications. Please answer because I am really c++ programmer but I've seen power of free pascal and I create some simple applications like word pad and some browsers with no problems. free pascal is really fast, much much faster than old borland pascal but because that there is no visual pascal many peoples stops to use it, and free pascal is not from some big company like broland or microsoft so this is one more thing that "tells" to people "Do not use pascal"
