Review For Game Idea I would like to know if youd play a game like this.

Recommended Posts

The idea is basically a Web Based game that the main purpose is to obtain great economical power. You have the option to create malls, shops and even houses to sell or live in. This properties will be located in a Web Based MMORPG where users can travel the lands adquiring levels, defeating bosses and obtaining rare treasures. There will be about 4 different classes to choose from and plenty of quests. You can battle your friends or foes with your army in a Modern or Medieval standard in a turn based combat system. If you don't like going around the MMO you can always access non-MMO stores which contain multiple items for your entertainment. Now, as you can see the game will be divided between the MMO world and the web site world. You can interlace both to create a unique experience or just play any of those two.As you grow in power through business, you can sell your properties for cash to other users and make a real profit out of your long hours spent in the game. There are many ideas I'm leaving out so it doesn't just give away the whole plan. The question, would you play something similar to this but with more freedom (as in creating custom products for your company, etc.)?

I personally wouldnt play this type of game. I need more action and excitment to be drawn into a game I guess. Althought some people might like this I'm not one of them :)

He never defined how you'll acquire power :)
This sounds pretty interesting as long as you be sure to have action (usually includes violence).

Well, the main objective will be to achieve a high economical status and adquire plenty of properties and currency to sell for real cash... but as secondary objective there will be the Web Based MMORPG system, which is to level up, defeat bosses, party and do quests, fight your friends or foes, compete, etc.

I'm more confused on the concept of the game than whether or not i would play it. But i guess this confusion would be the reason why i wouldn't play it. I don't really see how commercialism deals with war—especially since you're basically allowing the enemy to do business with you. Why then consider them enemies when you're helping each other kill each other? You understand where i'm going here? And you mention "fight your friends"—if you're friends are what is making your business boom, then why fight them? You'd have to file for bankruptcy.

Umm, a game already exists like this called Project Entropia:

http://www.entropiauniverse.com/

It has a real cash economy where game money can be exchanged for real world money. In game companies are actually owned by real world companies who pay for the in-game advertising they get. You can actually own properties in the game worth real world money and earn real world money by in game actions. It simulates the real world in that there are many different professions and ways to make a living.

Think realistic Runescape on a grander level with real world application and involvement.

Oh my. I hadn't seen a game like that before. O_O

Now, that game crushed my game idea into pieces.

I think I'll go through anyways. If it's not popular, at least it will be fun making it. =P

Even if it won't be competition for that MMO... Mine is Web Based and doesn't require computer specifications like the ones that game needs.

Thanks for letting me know anyways. X_X

Oh, sorry about that! I didn't make my self clear.

The war part would be something like a game in the site. It's not going to be all about wars, but you will have the option to play a war game with your friends or foes.

Sort of like Advanced Wars for the Gameboy Advanced. A tactical game, as you might now.

Actually, believe it or not, the only part I "copied" from a game was the War game. The rest, I actually thought it up with no reference to any game I know whatsoever. I wouldn't doubt that I heard some of those ideas commented over the net some time ago and they were in my subconscious. I'm not aware of copying any games (except war game). That MMO "Enthropia" seems neat, but since mine isn't going to be made with an MMO Engine, only with browser based languages, it's not really copying.

Back to your core idea, you could focus it on economics and creating items to further the game world...Think a free, user-built universe where you create objects, clothing and weapon designs. The game would generate damage for randomly found items and custom guns without a special "you found a supergun to build" would essentially just be a custom skin for a gun/bow/melee type (differentiate by sword lenght, bow range/power, firing style/weapon style (which changes attack style)). Eventually implement systems to develop 3D plots of land for your own and NPC housing. In playablity, it can play however you design it to, but I would reccomend first/third person perspective for combat and a sims or second life style placement system for home objects. If you give treats for sections of game code you are sent you could accelerate and indefinitely continue upgrades. Enlist aid in expanding the game world and add in your economy system. For money, you will need ads to start, but place them in billboards in game.By the fact of potentially limitless customization and an immortal game that could one day "link" over the net to other "sites" in the game. This is a dream of mine that I give onto you. If you can create this game, this progeny of the best aspects of Second Life, Entropia, The Sims, archetecture, and even sometimes Spore (you need foes, and not all are even vaguely humanoid) you will have the first second gen MMO, a truly adaptive world. From this, the third gen is the 3d internet, or maybe 2.5th gen. Go on and take this idea, as I have other games to create and if you do the legwork for others enjoyment you get the monies.

This is the basic idea I had, the only problem is that making 3D games is out of my reach... By far.I will research even further for 3D games thought, maybe I can implement some concepts in 3D...
