This Topic will teach how can you change your without knowing your old Passward1. Click "Start" Then Click "Run".2. In the dialog box type in "CMD" and select "OK". (Opens Command Prompt)Or you can manually open CMD by navigating to "C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe".3. Once Command Prompt is open, type in "net user" and hit enter.This will display all user accounts.4. Now type in the following command: " net user (ACCOUNTNAME) * " and hit enterExample: net user Trap * [ENTER] (Dont forget to add the asterisk)5. Now it will ask for a new password, enter a password and hit enter once again,(PASSWORD WILL NOT BE DISPLAYED SO MAKE SURE THERE ISNT ANY TYPOS)6. Now it will ask you to confirm the password, Simply type in the password again and hit enter.(PASSWORD WILL NOT BE DISPLAYED SO MAKE SURE THERE ISNT ANY TYPOS)7. Now the password id changed! To exit command prompt simply type "EXIT" and hit enterReply With Quote

So would this work if you had a limited account and you tried to change an admins password? If I forgot my password for this account then I would have to try to get by using the limited account.Thanks for this if it does work.

Liam_CF, you would not be able to change the admin password, you have to be an admin in the first place.But, on the linux subject, you could boot linux, get the SAM files off the computer, and then get a SAM file cracker to figure out the password.This will not work on a school domain, for those of you at school.You would only be able to change the local password, not the domain password. ( I think)correct me if I'm wrong.

Wow, thats brilliant, I have tried to do that before, I know you can edit a database file with the passords in it. ive done that bbefore, but never used command prompt for it!.brilliant thread!! ;)
