rpgsearcherz 5 Report post Posted April 9, 2012 I do not know if it is possible for an independent developer to create a text based massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) because not too many people would be interested for the following reasons. Firstly, most kids these days want something that is realistic. Think graphics. Think 3D characters. Sure, you can put a story into a text based game, but I am not too sure of how many people would play it. I think this would be the biggest factor by itself. You're absolutely right - most people now want things they can see. There are some people who still like text-based games because they allow you to use your own imagination, but those people are so rare now that creating a true MMO of any type with them would be tough.
