Carson 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2007 I came across a good site where you can learn many languages. Although, this is only if you are willing to pay money. I paid for the German course, and I have to say that is was the best course I had taken. TheyThey use this link-word system, which really works! LinkwordŠ CD Rom courses have been developed over the last 20 years by renowned memory expert Michael Gruneberg. LinkwordŠ taps into basic memory patterns to help you learn and remember up to 100 words per hour. Each CD course takes 10 - 12 hours. You will rapidly learn and retain hundreds of words, basic grammar and sentence structure. Don't take our word for it, LinkwordŠ language courses have recently been featured in Newsweek, NBC, the London Times, Splash Magazine and the Bangkok Post, to name a few. Our CD Rom Courses are compatible with Windows and Macintosh platforms. Dr. Michael Gruneberg, the author of the Unforgettable Language Courses, is an internationally recognized expert on learning methods. He is a past President of the USA based Society for Applied Research in Memory and Cognition and is widely regarded as one of the founders of the Everyday Memory Movement, one of the most influential movements in present day memory research. He has published numerous books and scientific articles on memory and memory improvement methods and has lectured widely in both the USA and the UK on his work. His LinkwordŠ Language courses have been published in France, Spain, Germany and Russia,as well as being published widely in book, audio and computer formats in both the USA and the UK. Dr. Gruneberg has scripted and appeared on the BBC TV program 'The Magic of Memory', as well as being the chief scientific consultant to the BBC for a BBC 1 series on Unforgettable Memory. He has contributed to a large number of radio broadcasts on memory and learning methods and his popular books include Memory Failures and Your Memory for Life, both co-authored with Professor Doug Herrmann of Indiana State University. If you are serious about learning a new language, I would take this course. You can take samples as well, to see how it works. cangor 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 As far as I have been in my linguistic pursuits, any cd course is pretty much worthless. I am gifted with learning languages, but I just need a textbook and maybe a teacher to learn. These work better than any audio or video course... If you try to learn a language from tapes you're not going to be able to get around at all because you can't read likely and your vocabulary is going to be limited to phrases and you won't be able to carry on a conversation at all. If you're serious about learning a language, the best way is to take a real class, and maybe buy some CDs on the side to supplement your learning.
Carson 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2007 I class is definitely better, but I have purchased the course and It was useful for me. So I think that maybe you have to see what suits you best. I also took a German class in highschool, which helped a lot. Hopefully you can visit a country where Italian is the native language. Being able to practice all of the time really helps you learn the language.
