Apache Conflicting With Mcafee 8.0i Enterprise Mcafee wont allow me to install Apache fully.

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,I have been having this kinda perculiar problem in my computer. I was using Norton SystemWorks 2006 which includes the antivirus, firewall and a lot of other programs for tweaking you operating system untill my PC got attaked by a virus. Ok Norton was not able to even detect the virus. I was fortunate enough to get McAfee 8.0i Enterprise edition from a friend whom promised me that that is the latest version of McAfee and that it will surely help me in my trouble.I decided to give it a go ahead (I have already made up my mind to through the rough option of refoirmating and reinstalling everything in my system [takes anywhere between 4 - 6 hours for the complete reformat and reinstallations despite my computer's hardware config <3.6GHz P4, 1GB DDR 3200, FSB 800 MB with SiS661FX NorthBridge chipset, etc>].After installing the McAfee, it was finally able to remove the virus. That was real cool n I was happy ablut that. I decided to update and continue using McAfee after I removed Norton. Here comes my problems. I later decided to install some web server applications (MSQL 5.01, Colfusion and Apache) for my web and database development. I also want to go into mobile applications development too. McAfee activley tagged Apache's SlimFTP server exec file as a virus and wouldnt alow me to install it in normal desktop mode. I rebooted and reinstalled in save mode and everything went fine in there since McAfee wasnt active in safe mode.Well, after rebooting in normal mode and it became active again, it immediately deleted the file again teling me that it is a virus. I dont know exactly what else to do and this is really troubling me a lot.I am anxiously awaiting your helpful replies as to how to tackle this problem. Been wondering what to do though.......Uninstall McAfee and reinstall Apache while I have to go for some other antiviirus or should I just leave McAfee and continue using Apache without the FTP which doesnt make too much sense to me.Thx for your replies.

It took a few minutes but I found your answer odo

From these links basically slimftp is a program that is Trojan loaded so that is why mcafree is deleting it because of the vunerability this ftp has.

So I did some more research and suggest that you try this out.

It should be a effective replacement for slimftp.

But if that doesn't work google the following string

+apache +ftp and see what could be used to get you going.
