PlugComputers 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 Hey-I was considering adding my website to the Dmoz.org open source web directory. According to them it is a project that large search engines like Google, AOL, and Yahoo uses to fill its searches. Pages are put into categories, and then submitted, reviewed and if accepted, put into the directory in which you applied. I'm assuming this is a must for any website who wants a decent amount of traffic, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with getting their site listed in this directory. How long does it take for them to approve it..ect. They list from a few weeks to a few months, thats a long time in my opinion.
jlhaslip 4 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 It is usually quicker than a month. Between the Dmoz and beng hosted here at the Trap, I find that you will get good exposure to the Google, Yahoo and Msn Bots. And be sure to include your URL in your sig block as you have already done.
PlugComputers 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2006 Thanks,I think they're having issues with their submissions though, because when I go into the website and you first have to find the most specific category for your website then click "Suggest URL" or something similar at the top of the page and I keep getting a 404 error. Any other way to submit to the Dmoz? Or what is going on here? It was like that last night as well.
