michaelper22 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 If you build your web site in the open-source CMS Mambo, there is hope for getting rid of those ugly dynamic URLs. There are several components for both Mambo and Joomla that turn index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=223&Itemid=1 into /aboutus/our-history.html. Here issome useful info.-404 SEF (now ARTIO JoomSEF) automatically makes SEF links. It works with most parts of your site, but doesn't make SEF links for buttons (it does for links) in components. It lets you create somewhat custom URLs, meaning you can enter a URL and its non-SEF destination.-Other useful SEF components include ReMOSef, Joomla SEF Patch, and several others you can read about at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/-Joomla/Mambo include a very basic SEF system in the box (not literally in the box, but you get the idea lol) that turns the &s and =s in your URLs into /s and ,s. This still, however, does not provide much improvement over the real SEF components' abilities.
