electron 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 I have complained so many times about my laptop but was fruitless.I had purchased a V2148AP laptop that was manufactured on 25th March 2005 and purchased on 15th april 2005.Serial No:CNF51105RKProduct No: PV307PAOn the 25th of May 2006 my laptops LCD got spoiled. As far as i can see exactly after 1 year 2 Mths on the 25th it gets spoiled when it is out of warranty. Is this a coincidence ?I dont think so !!I took it to the service center and they gave a qoutation of Rs.26000 to replace the LCD without making an effort to repair the same.A new laptop of the same LCD size is Rs.30000 and you guys are asking for 26000 for just a LCD.Is this NUTS!!!!But the main thing is it gets spoiled after 1 year and 2 months later after Date of Manufacture.I had read about HP PROGRAMMING its CARTIDGES TO GET USELESS AFTER SOMETIME and WAS SUED FOR IT.IS this the case in the LAPTOPS as well.I really admire the PROGRAM which HP has FIT in the laptops TO GET SPOILED AFTER SOME TIME.THIS IS NOT FAIR.Please REPLY if you guys have similar problems. Also if HP is reading this THIS IS CONSUMER Dissatisfaction. Dragonfly 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2006 Hi Electron, That's a very unfortunate case. I'm hearing such case for the first time. I too am an HP laptop user. Of course, their Compaq laptop. I do not have any problem so far. Mine too has been over a year, the warranty has expired but it is still working normally like it did before. I think such case will happen to one in thousands. And the fact is that your laptop went unfuctional after a year, which is after the warranty period is over. I think you have very less valid points to claim that they are unfair and are not good, simply because the warranty period is gone. Since I bought my current laptop much before March 2005 it is of course difficult to comment on the programme they put in the laptop so that the laptop will not function right after the warranty period. My point is that if it goes wrong after the warranty period since that isn't covered anymore by their warranty as a customer we have nothing to claim except to repair what actually went wrong. And I think you are only doing that. However, I cannot understand why HP is asking that much amount only for the LCD.
electron 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2006 I agree that its out of warranty. But the point that it got spoiled on the 25th of May 2006 exactly after 1 year and 2months from manufacture date surprises me the most. Also they are not ready to try to repair the thing but replace the LCD for a price that is too high as i explained. dreus 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2006 That is unfortunate indeed. My desktop and inkjet printer were both manufactured by HP. The desktop has lasted a good four years now and only recently has it started to act up. The printer, however; died about one year after I had bought it - yes, shortly after the warranty expired. I later learned that the printer model was just poorly designed, such that one of the gears controlling the sliding ink cartridges would snap rendering it useless. Worse still, it was irreplaceable. At the time, I felt that HP was intentionally making crappy equipment that would only last for the period of its warranty. Soon after, it'd break down and you'd ultimately have to settle in shelling out more cash to buy another of their products. But come to think of it, there may be another reason(s) why your HP product may not perform up to par (of course, it could just be that your laptop was a lemon) .LCDs can get spoiled for a number of reasons. I'm not a computer expert (far from it, actually) but I've seen a fair share of LCDs burn out just because of use. Especially with laptops, a lot of people tend to leave them on for long periods of time and soon after, notice fried transistors (those little dark dots) and what not. And yeah, those buggers are expensive.Perhaps it might be wiser in saving up to buy a new laptop then. And hey, it never hurts to give other companies a shot...Best of luck electron. electron 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 The problem with the LCD is that its Backlight is not working. We had phoned the Help Center and they said that a wire might be lose. But they refuse to repair it.Also now the Laptop is not working. It refuses to start.HP is getting on my nerves. Is this a product of a well reputated company then it is horrible.I think so it is on Self Destruction Mode. Also this laptop is $1750 when i purchased it.Are high end laptops supposed to be so bad. icemarle 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2006 Actually... about that self-destruction thing... I felt that way with my HP PSC 750 All-in-one before. I loved it very much, especially the scanning/copying option but it started acting up after a year or so and my dad blamed me for it. To think I did nothing wrong... but it's not about that. When we needed the scanner the most... we weren't able to use it. I tried every "remedy" I found in the internet but they were only either temporary or bogus. Also, the printer started working up needing an alignment. BUT here's the catch. The printer does it by itself. It will print a page for you, then... you need to SCAN it so it will self-repair! How can I align the cartridges when I can't even scan!? Another thing... the prompt to align the cartridges happens EVERYTIME I try to print something and refuses to print what I want! So I had to say "bye" to that hardware and greeted my Canon All-in-One. It's been more than a year now, but everything is still in top shape! I'm pretty satisfied with it now.electron, sorry to hear that, but at times, the only way to fix it is to get a new laptop. If it's really expensive to fix it, why not get a new one? @_@ HP is going down the drain...
