Hello,Me being a Muslim means certain rules apply. I am not allowed to date! You are all probaly all shocked and so on! Infact it makes me laugh .Anyway i suppose you want to know why: It is mainly because of the sex thing. Having sex while not married is quite close in the list of major sins to killing someone. Also Muslims are commanded to not look at the opposite sex. So i am not allowed to look at a girl for example and check if she is 'hot'. Anyway just wanted to see your reactions!

Damn and you are happy with such a unnatural life? Whole live comes from sexuality, every thing (yeah, i believe in freudism). If you live in sexual abstynency you almost aren't living. Are you even allowed to think about women?

Its pretty oppressive to humanity itself. Like those feelings of lust or whatever are natural and I"m sure you can surpress those in due time or already mastered the effect. I don't know its just hard to live under that kind of strict teachings. I guess in a way its helps you wiht your religion. To be able to be more bound to the religion. I don't think its wrong. I just think its a different lifestyle from what most people would live. I hope your parents pick you an okay girl.

Fruedism is just a theory and philopsical thought. He can only represent the western world because he never knew the history or modern day life of the Middle Eastern world. I do not think sexuality is the only way to fully live your life. Sex is basically right there in the moment and being in the heat of the moment. Or to create offspring. I am not saying it is a useless thing. I am just saying it is not the only way to live your life. I feel my life is pretty full.

Well actually you are not allowed to have sex before marriage. But if you mean dating then yeah supposed to. I do not see this as control but rather a privelge. It is hard to explain...

But in a more understandable thought, being chaste allows me to fully master my mind without having my thoughts on girls.

That is the original difference yes. But now it is different. Shiites believe that only some individuals can understand the Qur'an. Sunnis believe that all can understand the Qur'an.

It is not opressive. For you who has always been doing what you want, it is seems harsh. But now i realise it is good for me. For example if a child wants to eat a biscuit which only you know is poisoned, and you can only stop the child from eating, then that is what you will do. The same is with God. God knows the biscuit can look delicious and tasty but in truth would kill me. I try to follow Islam. Not looking at girls for example was hard at the beginning, but gradually the way i thought about this whole issue made it alot easier.

People, you've got it all wrong about Islam... This religion is all about organizing your life style, it's not about restrictions. It's the foundation of protecting and creating a very civilized society. Look at it from this angle: Not having sex before marriage means that the average of single moms is relatively less. The probability of an unsettled, emotionally disturbed society would become unlikely. Plus, if you really love a person, sex is not the answer. It is just a means of expressing love, but where is respect if you are capable of sleeping with more than one person "till you find the right one"? Everything is forbidden for a reason, and it is all good for a Muslim if he follows the rules. It is a set of determined threads of destiny, messing with it means messing your life up. I am sure we all know what I am talking about, because we all have gone through some sex-related problems or similar ones because we failed to believe. Lol, man I'm Muslim too but I have a different opinion on that. We are ALLOWED to date as long as we keep our limits. Like if you went out with some girl and just had a casual chat and got to know her and all, then yeah it's okay to date and that won't be a sin. But if you went out with a girl and ended up foreplaying or getting laid with her, then that's a huge sin cuz sex before marriage is not allowed, in all religions and not Islam alone.

Again, you do not understand it quiet perfectly. You can look but you can't "stare with desire"! And that's actually a good thing for the girl, to preserve her dignity and respect. Because look at what girls have turned to in the West! Girls are being treated like items or sex tools these days, whenever a guy feels aroused he just goes to a bar, meets a girl, takes her to a hotel room, gets laid, and then leaves (and in most cases pays her for sleeping with him). Ok I know it's hard to see a hottie walking on the street and not look at her (personally when I see a girl wearing a mini skirt and a top that shows most of her breasts and body, I cannot take my eyes off her ) but that's why girls have to wear veils in Islam, just to protect them and protect their feminine being so they wouldn't be abused by men.

LOL! good question, but no don't worry, Muslim men choose their own wives after they love them and get to know them very well (at least in my country that's how things go ) but there are some countries that have extremely strict rules and dress codes and traditions (like Saudi Arabia and most of the Gulf countries) well, in these countries I don't know how people get married but I don't think it happens normally and I would say that happens because over there people do not understand Islam quiet well, I honestly think they are somehow radical and extreme and they really need to look at Islam from a totally different perspective!

Yeah that's right, that's the basic difference between Shiites and Sunnis. I'm a Shiite myself, and we believe so because there are alot of Hadiths (speeches and situations of the prophet mohammed) where he clearly states that his successors shall be Imam Ali and his descendants. And about what Loyal said that we believe only some people can explain the Qur'an, well yeah that's true, we believe that SPECIALIZED people can explain the Qur'an correctly so that we wouldn't understand the Qur'anic scripts in a wrong way. And those specialized people shall have GREAT knowledge about the Arabic literature (because the Qur'an's standard of language is very hard and complex, and not common people can understand it correctly) and in Islamic history and the prophet's life. Well, actually this is what causes the confusion in understanding the scripts, common people tend to explain it literally as is, while actually the Qur'an should be interpreted metaphorically - God may say something while he intends to say something else which is more general or more specific (it depends on the case) so... that's why there must be specialists to interpret the Qur'anic scripts. There are also some other differences but those two mentioned above are the most important.

There aren't any important differences between us.That comment from Trap FeedBacker represents everything I wanted to say: religion contains just some instructions what's the best for us people, not to have to try everything to realize whats the best way...but unfortunately its written in us not to keep any rules

Hey I'm muslim too and yes I get asked all the questions all the time.

 

I think its hard living in America for most muslims because we are so Adapted to the North American way of life. Its sad when the majority Of our brothers and sisters lose their way and dating is one.

 

I have Friends who secretly meet their gf's/bf's and what a shame it is. I find myself laughin when I am asked about these things too. THank you for posting this up and I hope some peoples questions get answered.

This is really interesting. I'm a christian and in my religion people are not allowed to have sex before marriage too. This is a sin, very serious. But nowadays this rule is considered to be old fashioned. Sometimes people stay virgins till 20 years old, but just a few people can say that they are still virgins at this old. Some people will ridicule you (like - you are so ugly that nobody even wants you). Stupid moment, i feel ashamed for my country, but this is true. The value of purity is lost...?

I am a 26 year oldAmerican woman that spent most of her life doing sinful things. I saidShahada almost 2 years ago-Alhamdulillah. I pray at a Sunni Masjid. Ihave a 3 year old daughter from a Non Muslim father. I was not marriedto my child's dad. I dated alot of men from a young age. My first kisswas at only 12 years old! From the age of 18 I wanted to bemarried-that was something my heart ached for-a husband, and a stablefamily and life. I wish I would have converted to Islam as soon as Iwas 18, or even at 16. My life would have been alot different than itis now. I may have even been married by now

The main point isnot me whining about the mistakes I made, but that dating and sexoutside of marriage leads to heartache, a disturbed mind, sexualdiseases, abortions, illegitmate children who may not even know theirfathers, poverty, crime, drug use, ect ect ect. Do I need to go onabout how it can affect a society? Look at my society in my country-in the US. Enough said.

the basic thing is that ISLAM IS A WAY OF LIFE NOT A PART OF LIFE. For instance, we don't just go to mosque on sunday and come home and start drinking and commiting sins all throughout the week and then go back to mosque on next sunday...For us muslims we live an islamic life.Our all actions are guided by islamic way of life...God is present in us all the time and not on sunday for 1 hour...Thats why we pray 5times a day...Also all world religions forbid adultery not just islam.But Musims are fearful of God that they have that concept alive til today...Not like westners who have made exceptions for themselves by changing the christianty...If christianty means believing in Christ then we muslims are better christians than christians themselves bcoz we do believe in Jesus (prophet of God)

all these so called modern people wd a huge american influence need to wake up and smell the coffee...The only thing for hating all that muslims believe in is that u wont be able to have sex with hundreds of different idiot men and women.U will have to cover urself and u wont be able to wear bikini and show your figure for people to stare and laugh at...Etc etc I can go on and on ...But I ll say this :

Even for the first couple Prophet Adam (pbuh) and his wife. simple restriction - not to eat that one particular fruit.   it is the order/rule  to be followed.  mistake was done. what happened then thrown out from the paradise.

All destructive desires are like the forbidden fruit.

 If we want to get back to paradise. it is NOT by following the destructive desire.  ONLY by following the order of the Almighty and practice the way his messenger guided to do.

All Brothers iam also a young Muslim and I know whats going through all your minds when it comes to young age but all these activities are the traps of Saitan the devil u don't understand only cursing Islam Islam Islam is not the way man have you people ever read the holy bible, the torah & the veda u tell me where it gives u permission to have sex freely even if you are a christen, Jew or hindu if you read your releigion carefully you will find that matters relating to sex & social life are all same in your books as well I CHALLENGE YOU ALL PEOPLE IF ANYONE OF YOU CAN BRING A SINGLE VERSE FROM YOUR OWN RELIGIOUS BOOKS THAT SAYS SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE IS ALLOWED! YOU CANT FIND IT CUZ ITS SAME IN ALL RELIGIONS there are some things which are common in all religions atleast we should follow THEM as a HOLY WORD from our LORD!

if you do not follow your holy scriptures then your not going to Heaven but you are opening a door to HELL
