Its a decent computer for what you are spending however I am wondering where you are buying if from? Are you in the US? Have you looked at computers on http://www.newegg.com/ They usually have really awesome prices. The computer you are looking at would be great for playing games. I personally would stick with your old moniter until you can purchase a new one. The picture quality on a tv is not quite the same as a moniter. If you have no other choice then go ahead and use the tv but I would stick with the moniter if it is still in good shape.

Gaming. U.S.I looked at ibuypower.comI think I prefer that to newegg. I cannot build the computer, so I'd have someone else do it for me

Looks good to me. I seems like everything looks like its pretty close to top line so the computer will last for 2 - 4 years without any trouble. Enjoy it.
