Which Is My Server Root Directory?

Recommended Posts

hello guys!, i just installed CubeCart to sell some programs and in order to achieve this i need to put my Server Root Path, something like:

/usr/local/vhosts/http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

the problem is that in my cPanel it says:

home/myaccount/public_html/downloads/something.zip

is it right to use this path?? or should i use my domain name??

home/http://www.mydomain.com//public_html/downloads/something.zip

and another question, could it be available a file to download it if it is in:

home/myaccount/downloads/something.zip(it is not in the public_html folder)

THE RIGHT PATH : home/myaccount/public_html/downloads/something.zip

and another question, could it be available a file to download it if it is in:

thanx opaque for your reply, you were right, the correct one was

THE RIGHT PATH : home/myaccount/public_html/downloads/something.zip

and well the other question, i could have it working, i mean i made a folder before the public_html folder and guess what? it's even securer using that way... :-), so none will steal the programs i might sell :-p

A person might create a folder/file under public_html only if that person might want to access the information using a browser. If one would to use FTP or cPanel from a remote machine one can place a file anywhere in his/her hosting space--under the directory before public_html.However, with keyloggers and spyware age, I would think twice about using cPanel login or FTP program from a machine that is not your own or from a public computer. You may choose to modify a folder with password protect (a builtin feature in cPanel for your hosting) that requires login without a script. This is still the best secure way to access your information from a remote/public computer.
