moldboy 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2006 I am looking for a piece of software that will allow me to scan a document and transmit it to a central system where it can be written on and sent back to me. SO say I drew a flow chart, on paper and then scanned it and put it on this system, a person could then go and see it, make a few notitations, and then I could see the notitations they made. Like brainstorming but with a computer, the critical requirement is hat I can scan in images. Software or Online service, free or very cheep is prefrence. Thanks
jlhaslip 4 Report post Posted January 31, 2006 Moldboy,Check out cutepdf writer. It behaves as a printer that spools output. Instead of going to a printer, the output gets caught in a piece of software that saves it as a pdf format, then you send the 'document' as an attavhment to an email. The guy at the other end prints it out, or returns it with his notes as a second email. Freeware. No Nag Screen. I've used it for a couple of years now. Works perfect. They also have CutePDF 3.1 which lets you merge pdf's, add pages, watermark things, but it is about $50.00 USD. It is also available as a free download, but there is a nag screen and it 'stamps' the output until you pay for it. But a good product, no doubt.http://www.cutepdf.com/
moldboy 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2006 Yeah I have it, not what I'm looking for though. I want to be able to start on paper, and then never have to return to paper. I know I can use the doodle featuer in word, but I'd rather have a piece of software (or online service) that can track it for me.
Inspiron 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2006 If that's the case, there isn't a need of special softwares. You will basically need to scan your hardcopy drawings on the paper into your computer with a scanner. Once it's in digital form, send that file to your friend to share his brainstorming on it by editing the picture file which you've sent him (the scanned document). You friend can edit using PowerPoint and save it as a JPEG file and send it back to you. Other picture-editing software include Microsoft Photo Editor and the default Windows Bitmap Paint. Otherwise if you need fancy effects on your document, use Photoshop or other advance photo-editing software.
