Gamecube is it really for children only?

Recommended Posts

Hey,I have seen very few gamecube topics here (well, relatively anyway). So I was just thinking that it might be true when some people say that 'Gamecube is for children'. When I was about to buy my gamecube, my friends told me not to as it's for children of age 3. Other friends encouraged me to buy it because they say 'women/girls, and children will be happy enough with Gamecube. Boys need more--so PS2 or Xbox'.I think, though, that many game producers now also make their games available for gamecube. ;) what do you think? ;)

I currently have a GameCube and I have noticed that GameCube can't be only for children because of the amount of M/mature rated games and some that are adult and such that are for it.. God, my mom won't let me buy some games for Gamecube becasue of the amount of gore or sex related material ;) But if you asked me what to get.. I'd say not to get a Gamecube if you could get a PS2 or XBox becasue they do have alot more "older kid" games and probly even better games.

GameCube is NOT only for children! In fact, PS2 have much more kiddy games than the GC, they are just being hided.Ok, Nintendo produce kiddy games, but not only. Games like the new Zelda and Resident Evil 4 is not kiddy games. I could make a list with 60-120 Games on GC wich contains much Action/Violence, but i dont need to do it.Of course PS2 have much more Action games than the GC, but more kiddy games to, becouse it have houndreds of more games than GC.GameCube is more powerful, but PS2 have a DVD and better/ More games.Even if Nintendo produce many good games like Zelda, they cant stand alone. They need third party support. But they have lost much of it since Super NES Entertainement System.

Yea thats the thing I hate most cause I have a whole list of games I'm waiting to come out for GC that XBox and PS2 have.. and if a game does come out for XBox or PS2 Gamecube is always the last one to have it ;)

Theres no such thing as a kiddy system. Notice where those ratings are placed? Not on the consoles, but on the games. True, GC does seem to have a lot of games appropriate for children, but they arent being created for children. They are being made FUN, and the things we consider fun dont change as much as we would like to think so. Pretty lights and shiny things still do it for most of us, whether we would like to admit it or not. Nintendo has proven time and time again through franchise after franchise that a fun game need not be excessively violent or pornographic. Those things sure dont hurt when you get older ( usually ), but they are by no means required for entertainment.

Sony and Xbox never really tried to create fun games. Theyre just making games based on other peoples games. Nintendo trys to revolutionize things ( fitting terminology ) and we call think theyre a kiddy company. The maturity of the game you are playing should not matter. Its how much enjoyment it brings you that counts.

Yeah dude your friend just is stating his own opnion, not that its bad or anything but us here think in all different ways. personally i have a gamecube and i still love playing games like super smash bros. and phantasy start online Ep. 1-2, even though some games that are advertised for it look childish which i admit some are but there not getting to the whole game list...but the xbox or ps2 does have a better selection of action/fps's while the gamecube is out for comic violence, and games that want to make you have fun, like mario party ;)

The gamecube can't be for childrens only. I don't think any real gaming systems can be for childrens only. Any games can be played by adults. Gamecube has a lot of games for mature people anyways. Maybe it's mostly for children, but that's not the point.

As everyone has said, Gamecube is definately not a "kiddy console." A lot of the games it carries are very good games exclusive to Gamecube. Resident Evil 4 and all the Zelda games are popular examples of this. Even some of the Mario games are not kiddy, like Super Smash Brothers: Melee. I don't know if people will agree with me or not on this, but I enjoy playing some of the kiddy games every so often. Games like Mario Party and Animal Crossing are some of my favourite Gamecube games. But, of course, Gamecube is notorious for being "kiddy" but it's a good system.

Yes, Nintendo have some criterias, like that games would not contain to much violence etc. but that is also why GameCube not have as much games as PS2 and Xbox, Nintendo wants quality before quantity.Even thought i think it is good on some ways, I think it is bad, becouse we GameCUbe's owners dont get as much games to choose from as Xbox or PS2 owners.

Well, GAMECUBE is not only for children, but Nintendo tends to make games oriented for children, and it's the truth. Because most of GC's games are from Nintendo, so it's something like public has vision that GC is for children.

That is not the thruth! Most of the Games to the gamecube is not from Nintendo!I could give you a list... wait, it is better to just tell you:

Yes, many of the Games to Nintendo GameCube is from Nintendo, but absolutely not all of them, that is right that Nintendo produce many games to it, and that it have a very small game support from third parties, but Nintendo can't produce as many games as the third parties. AND: Perhaps is Nintendo's Games BEST for children, but they are not meant for children, and do not forget that the "kiddy" games from Nintendo often is really fun! When did you last played Super Mario Strikers? (Mario smash football)

Really fun, and I would not call it a kid game.

umm,i dont know why most of people considered GameCube as a "kiddy console".it is a cool player IMO,as known is to all,GC owned lots of classic small games exclusively.however,we could not deny that many games GC carried are from Nintendo really.after all Nintendo is this game field precursor...so it is still sure that we do enjoy the style of gamecube. :D

who really cares about games that have fore, or are for a "mature" audience, those games are just for "cabbage" gamers, ok, some are ok though but for the large majority of gamers tha only but those types of games, man your missing out on alot, i would much rather play my Zelda, or Fire Emblem which has some depth, than play the latet (undisclosed), that some hippy could put together in a matter of weeks, i play games for the fun and enjoyment of solving puzzles, and feelin like of actually acomplished something rather than going into a room full of otherworldly/humans with guns which are so easy to kill that a old person with arthritus could dispatch of the lot, the only exception to this is resident evil 4, which is a great gamelong live the classics
