guangdian 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Now,i wanna introduce a Sourceforge project, Clam Win free Anti-virus. if you use linux then i think you won't strange with Clamav enginee http://www.clamav.net/ and for win the project is: http://www.clamwin.com/ http://www.clamwin.com/ from sourceforge is: softmap->secruity->1st one. and i 'm admining about 8 computer rooms,about 600 computers.and there is no licensed anti-virus for them.so i went to sourceforge searching for some secruity and i find the ClamWin Free Anti-virus. this afternoon i just tried that on 3 computers,gave some details about that: 1.the latest version of clamwin is 0.87.1,just download from sourceforge or official iste http://www.clamwin.com/content/view/18/46/ 2.installing is simple.one step let you choose downloading the latest virus code from the official site,this step will take a long time.(before the installing close your firewall and windows xp firewall.)when it's downloading over,click the next step to completed the installing. (maybe you found that is taking too long time to download,just cancel and reinstall the setup,when options uncheck the "downloading the source code".just download it later. the screen is like that: 3.click the start->all programme->ClamWInAV,to run it. you will find the icon on the system task.and there is a screen of it's main interface 3 icons on it.first is perefrence,the middle one is update,right one is scan for virus.you can selecte the drivers below. 4.effect,i think it took too long time to run the all disk scan,i just wasting 4 hours for a computer's disk scan.and it's the most bad side of it. and the interface is simple to use,i watched the resources using.cpu just used 90% and memory used 300MB ( my is 512 ddr 400 ) it's an options for us do not have money purchase the license of business antivirus likc mcafee or karbarsky. just tried it..( it really took too much time for scanning if you had using other mainly business anti-virus programme. ) guangdian Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
