Text is hard, there's no doubt about it. But try some less common looking fonts, that are still fairly readable and try some effects on it (whether it be blending options + gradient/shadow/stroke or a rasterized text layer + filters or something), and you will have enhanced it tenfold.

first one.. the render and the background is too contrast... need to be blended well...second one...the font is too common to use... anfd the blue thingy doesn't look good.. i thiunk its one of the premade bruses rite? you should downlaod the bruses pack from saintmichael filefront...
