My sister has the same problem... only we can't reboot her computer because her cd-rom drive don't work. It always gives off a "This program is something something illegal" I've tried spybot and adaware... the only things that would actually run and everytime I do a scan she has adware and spyware out the roof. It's not been so bad since I disabled her ActiveX.

This makes me mad because it's always me trying to fix her computer. I have sat there trying to teach her how to scan for viruses, make space on her computer, scan for her adware and spyware... disk defragments and what not. I've put many hours and money into her computer... way more money then I've spent on mine.

I am guessing you have a adware/spyware problem.

You may need to really watch what your downloading. Scan everything you download with a virus scanner. Don't say yes to ActiveX downloaders on pages that just randomly open, and keep your firewall on... that is if you have one. I can't say which programs to get, I just use adaware and spybot so I'm not to sure.

I am no a computer expert, but I know what I need to know to keep my computer running. I have yet to reformat my computer... though I better not jinx myself. I just don't... download anything like Music, games, warez, movies, shows, porn, or add-ons to anything.

i suggest you buy the most recent version of norton antivirus and firewall. but if that doesn't work just format your hard drive and start over. but make sure you burn all your important files onto CDs and make sure you know how to re-install your operating system =)

I use Avast antivirus and it helped me block maaaany virusses and spyware, before that I have to f-disk every 3 or 4 weeks. Internet is full of crap like that.
I just booted my pc an hour ago and allready have this in my logs:

[217] Microsoft Multiple Application/OS GDI+ JPEG Processing Buffer Overflow Vulnerability attempt detected (CAN-2004-0200)---
Somebody is scanning your computer.
Your computer's TCP ports:
8080, 2301, 3128, 8000 and 80 have been scanned from xx.xx.xx.xx.
---
Unsolicited incoming ARP reply detected, this is a kind of MAC spoofing that may consequently do harm to your computer.

Packet data is shown in the right window.

Gladfully they were all blocked :)

I download alot of things, but still don`t get many spyware. I guess it is because i am using a router and a hardware firewall. But i am still getting very many attacks, so i decided to make an email adress only for the attack logs on my ip. Now i have 3628 messages that say that my ip was attacked by brazilians but the attacker didn`t go trough the firewall.
