This is one of the classical stories where I apply the idea of the "key" and the "cause". In this situation, the copyright technically did not kill the person. It was the lack of drugs that killed him. In this case, the KEY was the copyright, but the CAUSE was the lack of available drugs for him.

the operative word is "CAN" kill. as opposed to the past tense you used, the concerned programmer in the article is still alive and kicking, and fighting out the current system governing copyright. and it's not the lack of available drugs if you read the article. IT IS available (he bought it already), but restricted by copyright for entry the the U.S. to be used by the person involved. in any case, i fairly understand the 'key' and the 'cause' concepts you presented, and they are tightly tied together. the 'key' shouldn't be restrictive in cases of life and death. a 'key' is tantamount to being the 'cause' itself in such cases if it hinders the right to life of a person.

I think government-provided health care is tied to this as well. Isn't a hospital refusing to treat a dying person without payment first as much accessory to murder as this? Yes, our government is entirely messed up. It convicts people for crimes they don't commit, arrests demonstrators against wars however peacefully they protest, and through the Patriot Act can take any American at any time and throw them in a prison camp on some island to do whatever they want.

 

But government corruption has ensued only because of a complacent, uncaring, American people.

Wow that is really creepy. I cannot believe those stuck up companies are just holding back the shipments because of a little problem. If it is a financial problem not a materials problem then send out the freaking medicine just charge the company. I feel very sorry for that man. Business is cruel.
