3D-programs

Recommended Posts

I am looking around for a 3D-program preferably one of good quality. I've tried the demo for Cinema 4D and Maya PLE. I was wondering if a) anyone had advice on what to look for and  if anyone knows if there is any sort of demo version of Lightwave availible.

You can always try Blender3D. It's open source, but VERY powerful. It also lets you import and export to many formats. As for the lightwave demo, according to this page here, http://www.newtek.com/ you have to contact Newtek for the lightwave demo. Or you can go here http://www.newtek.com/ and order one from the guys at Siggraph (but i think it's only for people who attended last year's conference, you can try anway though). If you find a place to download the demo please share the info amongst the rest of us.

Well, my problem has been solved. A friend had a copy of Lightwave 7 he didn't use any more, so he gave it to me, and I am happy with it. ;)

I had a good time with blender. It's very configurable and there are a lot of tutorials and plugins. It's a bit difficult to use but...Besides, it doesn't requires a giant machine.

i think every 3d model tool has its pro and cons, an also may be use in different areas.3d studio max its use in almost everything, poser for body modeling and lightwave for enviroment 3d modeling . so you may find differents things from one to one.:D

You have right but i do everything in 3dsmax and 3dsmax RULEZ!!! 8)

It wouldn't help me as it does not appear to have a MacOS X version. And Maya/Lightwave/Cinema4D do.

Try Bryce 5 Its pretty sweet. It's made for landscaping but you can make some sweet abstracts with it which are great for signatures, banners, etc.

I have Bryce. It has no modeling capabilities whatsoever, and Terragen is much better and freer for landscape.
