invision board and vbulletin are also very good. in fact for a serious php forum you only have three options: invision,vbulletin and phpbb.. all of them come with their advantages and disadvantages..

I think PHPBB and IPB is good. I have PHPBB installed at my local server and am trying to make one myself.

phpbb...it's got a massive amount of mods...

php is awesome.... mod wise, though i like the simplistic look of IB

im currently using IPB 1.3! IPB rocks. and i have a mind to switch to phpbb when there is 2.2 release.
