iGuest 3 Report post Posted November 18, 2004 Quite simply, this is THE best pc game I have ever laid eyes on, not only graphically, but also in gamplay as well.If any of you like FPS's or liked the first HL, then you will love this game.
iGuest 3 Report post Posted November 19, 2004 this game is by far one of the more interesting and appealing FPS that i have played
iGuest 3 Report post Posted November 20, 2004 I've actually never played Half-Life although I came across a pre-order box (just the packaging front cover etc...) recently their in game just before it came out.It looks great; and from what little I know of the original it's absolutely lethal also. The thing is, is that I probably would have bought it only; I only got a computer in October 2001. But now I've got a new pc, with some great spec on it. (Compared to the last one it's like 10 times better in every department.)I've been thinking about getting it; although I'm a person who loves films; and film-esque games. So I'd rather play the other one first to get a handle on the storylines and background to the characters. Also; aren't Half-Life and Doom related...storywise? I remember hearing somewhere that Half-Life was a plot thread of the Doom series or something like that. (Maybe I'm wrong...)So I dunno, I'll maybe get it around Christmas or something. iGuest 3 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Could someone please fill us in on the storyline of the game....? I saw the box at Wal-mart the other day but it didn't say anything about the game which REALLY PISSED me off! Someone please give us some storyline?
iGuest 3 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 I pretty much love half-life games but i don`t have even one of them lol hoping to get the half-life2 soon
iGuest 3 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 It's a bit annoying that you need an internet connection to activate the game. I'm a student and live in halls of residence, so there's a firewall blocking steam from accessing the net. For me to activate the game, I'll have to take my pc down to the internet cafe, about 20 mins walk carrying my PC! I can understand valve's anti-piracy aims, but online activation goes too far, even WinXP allows you to activate over the phone.Beaker
iGuest 3 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Man that must suck huh, Beaker, I hope that never happens to me in a normal building.
iGuest 3 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 I must say after playing HL and CS for over 5 years , I am done with Valve and fps . One reason , I am not going to sit around get cheated and hacked during online play . I just cn't stand it anymore . I loved the game , use to maake maps as well , but the community for HL is crud ,compared to the early days and with all the hype around it , you know it is one of the top games for hackers like ogc , unknowncheats mygot ect to be cranking out the cheats , It is over for valve I think , Yes they made an awsome game but hardcore fans I feel have rejected it . ... well it is over for me atleast I am playing lineage 2 now hehe ....... iGuest 3 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Totally tru dmxr. I wish there was a reverser which would reverse the hacks back at t he hackers without them even knowing. maybe there is but i`ve never heard of it. If u know please tell me.
iGuest 3 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 I must say after playing HL and CS for over 5 years , I am done with Valve and fps . HL2 is so absolutely amazing...you have to buy the game, even just to play the single player. And since the modding community will have full support this time (Hammer is very good, and all-inclusive for modding) then a lot less lame mods will be made, and hopefully a lot less lame people will play them!I am guessing that I am more than halfway through the half life 2 single player, and it has surpassed any expectation I had. This game is INCREDIBLE, and at times scary too. I play it loud at night with all the lights off. and let me tell you, the part where you go into the dead city is SOOOO scary!!! iGuest 3 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 Think what my statement implies is " I am not "buying" into HL community or valve" For the hardcore hl gamer , hl 2 is just a day to late and dollar short . Lets look at Bungie , same style of game , with nearly the same graphic depth , released on time no crying and whining from the Bungie team . I feel Valve sat on HL2 just to ride the "hype it wave" as long as they could, well that wave fizzled for me last November as they pushed back the release date , now that it is released , I could care less . I don't know any other Devoloper who takes the same game to E3 , 3 years in arrow .It is more of a political protest of Valve , if you will hehe . I am quite happy in the Lineage 2 world
