  1. We have also to assume that Windows is more convenient for novices. And because the non Information Technology staff is used to its simplicity, it's even difficult for the Organizations to switch to new environments (Linux). But the gap between the operating systems is decreasing and we started to see more and more Linux systems deployed.


  2. This beta version should be launched in July. The goal is to test many different hardware configurations as well as the 2010 version of:

    Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher, InfoPath, Project Professional, SharePoint Designer and Visio Pro.

    If you're selected, you'll receive also a preliminary version of the documentation. This beta version will only be available by download, you'll not receive DVD.

  3. What I can say here, is that Google uses a lot of Open Source technologies for sure. I once has a problem with my browser trying to connect to my email account and unluckily got forwarded to an internal error page. So I saw at the bottom of this page that the server is hosted on Redhat Linux with apache web servers.They might use also MySQL on these platforms.

  5. You can also try the : arch Linux distribution. It is designed to be a lightweight and optimized linux for x86 architectures.

    The latest install files recommends that you dispose at least of 64MB of low memory image.

    Yesterday, Micrsosoft announced that Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC) is available for immediate download to TechNet and MSDN subscribers. It is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions in English, French, Japanese, German, and Spanish. General availability will occur on May 5, 2009, and can be downloaded at this link:

  7. Yes, these issues are confirmed with linux. By defaut the drivers of the wireless card are not shipped with linux, moreover, I read that the distribution should include the newer kernels (2.6.21+). Broadcom recently released the native driver that should be compiled on your distribution
