Hey, I don't use Mac OS X but I think I can help you for two out of four points (: VLC media player for media player. I use it on Windows and GNU/Linux, and it works superbly, especially for video formats. I'm sure there's a Mac version at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html Mac OS X comes with Dashboard, Apple's widget program. You may be interested in Yahoo Widgets (formerly Konfabulator) which works in a similar way... http://yahoo.com/
