I have similar problems in my Java application with Swing. The panels refresh only when I maximize/minimize the frame. Can someone tell me how to rectify this?

I would be glad if the tutorials were divided on some moderator-defined categories, and links provided for the same. Any additional information on a category could come up as sub-cats.

It does seem like a lot of rules to follow, specially to a newbie to the site. But I guess I will follow it since it offers the platform for me to develop my application..moreso, because it entails academic value for me.
