Free Domains For Bloggers My Website Idea
ashrafulsheikh replied to ashrafulsheikh's topic in Software
No they wont be forced to put ads. I'll just give them the domain for one year. What they can do is work hard for a year and build a great blog. Then they can put up there own ads or ask for donations from their loyal readers to raise another $10 for extending their domain.Generally I dont want to put any artificial limits on the bloggers. If you write well and need a domain then u can get one without any strings attached.Of course everything depends on whether people would be willing to donate $10 or not. I cant think of a good motivation for other people to donate other than goodwill and a desire to promote good bloggers and see an influx of good content on the web. -
Note: I tried to post this in the Internet Section but cudn't so i'm posting it hereI have this idea to build this website that will provide free domains to bloggers. The idea is simple. I will take donations from people and applications from bloggers and will provide domains to bloggers who have the potential to be successful. This is because despite the fact that domains are cheap, many people cant afford to buy them or cant because of other constraints. And any one knows that to have a successful blog you need a top-level domain. What do you think? Is this a good idea?Would you apply for a domain?Would you donate towards this project?

Windows 7 is going to be a disappointment. Not because it will be a bad OS, quite the opposite itll be a gr8 one. but unfortunately there are some problem. Windows Vista was supposed to be huge. Problems arose and they rebooted the project. So even tho the gap between XP and Vista is 5 yrs, the vista we have has been worked on for abt 2yrs. And because of this Vista is buggy. Windows 7 is based on the Vista code. So Windows 7 is going to be Vista done right. People expect Windows 7 to be some revolutionary OS, but it will just be a minor upgrade from Vista. Not much will be new but it'll be stable.Microsoft is working on another interesting OS based on Singularity called Microsoft Midori. Its still a top-secret project, but it'll be different from the current windows code. So we can hope for innovation there.

I really like using software that have very good user interfaces. Most mac softwares are really good-looking (Adium, DeliciousLibrary) but most Windows applications are just plain ugly. I was wondering if you guys to point out some "beautiful" software. To start off I'll mention some.1. MediaMan (clone of DeliciousLibrary)2. ReadAir - Google Reader for your desktop (built on Adobe AIR)3. Snacker - Another AIR RSS Reader4. Kaspersky - The new 2009 version have a decent UI5. PowerArchiver - For opening zip/rar/7z files + many othersothers wud include Windows Vista, Office 2007 and Adobe CS3.

I used it because i always use new software but i didnt like it. the UI is not very good and the entire application is resource hungry. It allows u a bit too much. I moved on to NOD32 (actually ESET Smart Security), and it never ever prompted me for anything which is really good for a novice. However I wanted a bit more control so I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 now. Its pretty good.

Well the iPhone is revolutionary because of its user interface. Its touch screen and has multi-touch, which is considered to be the future of UI. Apple is the first company to emply touch screen in a device in such a way that a complete novice can use it. Selling a multi-touch enabled device at a mere 299USD is also revolutionary since this makes it cheap enough for the mass-market. So apple has successfully brought touch-screen UI into the market (the same way they did for the mouse).Other than that the aesthetics of the device is quite pleasing and the added cool-factor is a plus. I would agree though that the first iPhone was not worth it cause it lacked a lot of features but the new 3G iPhone is a bargain at $299.If you still dont get why the iPhone is hyped so much go to a apple store and try it out and you'll know why.

A Prelude To Programming What to learn? How to learn?
ashrafulsheikh replied to ashrafulsheikh's topic in Programming
Since I already know XHTML and CSS, I think I should go with PHP (+MySQL).Is it possible to try and learn PHP and C at the same time without getting too confused. Also whats C++ and C#?One final question, is there any books I can read before learning a language. Something that describes the programming concepts basics and underlying principles? -
I'm quite interested in learning programming. I want to know how us eager souls can go about doing that. I'm interested in both web and desktop programming. I already know XHTML & CSS. Any recommended books?

I'm planning on starting a site soon that will allow visitors to donate money, which will be used to purchase domains for bloggers.Bloggers who have a decent existing blog with moderate traffic can apply for free domains. This is to promote good blogging, expose great bloggers/writers to a greater audience and is intended for those who are not able to afford a domain. What do you think? Is this a good idea? Would you apply for a domain? Would you donate for this cause?

Windows is a very very old operating system. To Fix many of the performance issues, and particularly the way it manages memory, Windows would need to be re-written. Thankfully Microsoft is developing one such OS. It will borrow heavily from Microsoft's Singularity research project which is absolutely great. However this operating system wont be out for a few years. It is expected to debut around the same time as Windows 8/9 (Vista is 6). It will be more or less incompatible with most current Windows applications (virtualization is gonna get really good by then so u can run your apps on it). In the mean time we can hope the best for Windows 7. My only wish-list for it is a brand new UI to play with esp. the old longhorn concepts.

Yea sorry. We'll I'm here to get hosting and hopefully a domain (although its really tough to get one apparently). My site will be a technology blog, which is what I'm passionate about. Hopefully some of the people here are gonna visit. ;)PS. one small question. Why is there a "list" link at the bottom of all the posts. Clicking it bring up a tiny white box.
