What Language Is Best For Game Programming? I need some help
bob3695 replied to bigd1's topic in Programming
A good choice...but an sort of expensive choice would be 3D Game studio. It has a level designer, model creater and it also has a stripped down version of C++. The *cheapest* version is $50 but you could spend up to $900. Check it out at http://www.conitec.net/a4info.htm. This is for 3D games, for 2D games I would go with GameMaker like warbird sugested. -
Hi everyone,I am going to tell you a little bit about me. My name is Rich, I am 17, I live in PA, I am a VB programmer, and I am currently working on a game.A little bit about the game. The games name is CyberWarfare. It is going to be a hacking/cracking game. I am going to make it as real as possible with out teaching anything I shouldn't be. The basic story is you are 16-17 years old, have a slow computer, a 56K internet connection. You have to go online and download programs and read tutorials to learn how to hack and crack. once you learn to crack you can crack programs and sell them for money to upgrade your PC, upgrade your internet connection, and buy better software. Once you learn to hack you can do missions for people to get some more money.I am planning on placing an in-game language that you use to crack the programs with. Of corse nothing will be real and you will not learn a single thing about cracking or hacking.

I like winamp because it lets you create your own visulaizaions. It also plays more file types. I think winamp blows all the other media players out of the water

Well, there are no programs that i know of. One thing you could do is learn C++ or any other low-mid level language and write a program to reconize commands and do certain things. If you want to make a language that you compile the programs with you will need to go learn ASM and do a lot of coding. It is possible to make a language but it is very difficult and it will take a long time unless you have a team of like 10+ people working on it.

I don't think a usb pen knife would be good. The reason is if you want to take the usb drive onto a plane or school you would also be taking a knife...bad idea. I think we should stick to just plane usb drives and plane knives.

I know WinAmp has a built in editer for that kind of stuff. You can't dump it into any other programs but if you are interested in just making your own just for fun check out winamp. http://www.winamp.com/. It is kinda complex but if you try you should be able to get it.

I think IE is good. I have played around with firefox and didn't really see anything that interesting except the tabbed browsing. I think MS could pull that off if they relly wanted to but they are to busy with windows and all the other programs they make.

I think an google OS would be a bad idea. Google is good at searching(not all the time...but hey nothing is perfect) And I think they should stick to what they are good at.

Hi,Java is a "little brother" of C++. By that i mean Java takes a lot of its functionality from C++ but it still has its differences. One of the similar things is it is compiled. If all you know is HTML and JavaScript then Java will be a little hard to grasp but after a while you get a hang of it.
