Looking to display an RSS feed on a webpage. Found a few applets that would do it, but the feed would be on most of the pages, and I wouldn't want to have to load the applet on those pages. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. Not a big fan of animated sigs, but the animation does look decent. Seems like a lot of background around your raskull image, seems like there could be a bit better use of space.Anywho, those be my 2 cents
  3. Thanks, I'll be using https://de.godaddy.com/ for my domain, and pick up the paid hosting here (soon as I figure out how much $$ I have after car insurence )
  4. Might someone direct me to a reliable site where I could purchase a domain name at a decent price? I tried that MSN one and it made me go "huh?!" ~ "Entity Name" uh... me? Perhaps if someone might take me by the hand and walk me through that that would be just as well...
  5. Hmm... your description is a bit vague, but I think I gather what you're talking about; instead of having it move all together, just have layer masks that will slide to reveal different portions of the background? Hm... I'll see what I can do later on tonight (darn work )
  6. Text: Photoshop 7.0 Animation: Image Ready Size: 380px x 80px Just was fooling around with this idea I had stuck in my head for weeks, trying to figure it out mentally how I would make the animation work. Last night I got bored, so I just took a big pict (of the earth, from space ), cut it up into squares, and just started manually sliding things around with the layers in PS7. Once I had figured out how I was going to do what I had been thinking of the entire time (which still isn't exactly what I was thinking, but anyways...), I threw it into Image ready. I made 7 slides, tweened all but 2 of them to 10 frames to the previous, adjusted layer visibilities, and added a 5 second pause on the frame where "Nactgeist" is readable. 10 Frames later there seems to be another 5-8 second pause which I can't figure out why it got on there, because it certainly wasn't added onto it... perhaps just a bug in the way it exported :- / But anyways, you could use the effect for ads and stuff, I know I saw a vonage add with a similar yet slightly different effect, with sliding squares and such. I'll post another image, a larger one this time... EDIT:: Gotta find a space that will accept a 1.5mb image >.<
  7. Tell me watcha think Hmm seems the animation is a bit screwy when the text is getting "covered" again, dunno how to fix it though, there's no added in delay, might just be lag
  8. Right on! I really like the new look! The avatar looks great, and even though the text didn't get moved, I think it's a huge improvement!
  9. I like the color scheme, intersting how the grunge is used with yellow. Sort of lends to a construction site feel in my opinion - the yellow paint on the equipment being rubbed, scratched, and dented off due to debris hitting it. The text I'm not so fond of. Seems a bit plain and out of context with everything else ~ you have a grunge yellow and a sandy thing going on, and then there's the text, just white and black. Lacks depth. I'd look into applying a text effect to it and perhaps sampling a color from the left side of the sig to set the text in. I'm also not a fan of adding a background "bar" or horizontal area behind my text (hard to explain), I prefer the text to just be aligned near an edge in a nice spot that complements well. On the avatar, I think it got a bit too dark to stay matched with the sig. I would recommend just going a bit lighter on the grunginess there. Again, the text is a bit bland, although there is a complement and a critisim to that as well: The font and coloring matches, but you didn't capitalize the "R" in the avatar as you did in the sig (these are things I nit-pick over lol). I also don't care for the positioning of the text. I feel it would be better off in a corner (lower right would be my choice). Overall I think it looks great, and that with a few minor adjustments to the text, it would be even better! Keep up the good work!
  10. gmail > rest imho :PI love everything about gmail, the comfort of having the huge inbox should you ever need it, the way it stores messages, how you can classify them. I have just loved everything about gmail since I've gotten the account. Highly recommend it everyone all the time
  11. As they said ~ dark. Try increasing the brightness/contrast settings, and I really don't care for your boarder. Just me opinions
  12. Just my 2 cents on this quickly ~ if you never got the opinion of anyone else, you could be creating something that, in your eyes, was a magnificent work of art, yet to others it would be hidious. It is by listening to the input of others that we grow as artists. Although the idea that if you never got help from someone else, you might come up with something altogether new and beautiful due to not being limited by your current knowledge is intriguing... Back to the topic: It's your first, and you probably gave it a good effort, which is commendable. But it is by no means a masterpiece. The main flaws, as others have pointed out, is that you have a dark-on-dark design, with no way of setting the renders out from the background, and that the background is disinteresting. The cutting out of figures only comes with practice; as you do it more often, you get better. A tip I can offer though is in the way I cut out a render (this is when using Adobe Photoshop 7.0+): What I do is I place the render on it's own layer (duh) and then create a new, transparent layer over it. Then I look at the render it's self. If it is a gernally dark render, or at least the areas around the part I wish to crop out are darker, I go with a white foreground color. If it is light, then use black. Then I grab a large, hard-edged brush and fill in the big area around the target area with the color. Nothing fancy, just make sure you catch all the edges if possible, and get semi-close to the targeted part without running over it. Then I switch to a semi-hard-edged brush (you can change this by holding down SHIFT + [ or ] ([ = softer, ] = harder) that is smaller, and start working in on the edges of the area. The nice thing about cropping this way is that if you screw up, you can just nab the eraser and touch up the crop, then go at it again. Once you've gotten everything but the area you wanted covered in color, just CTRL + Left Click your layer with all the color on it (the one above the render), then hold SHIFT + CTRL + ALT + I to invert the selection, left click on your render, then copy or cut it out. It is a time consuming process, but I found that with patience and attention to detail, I can get the best results for myself this way. Secondly, the background. When I first started, I used a very plain-jane way of making background. Make a 800x800 canvas, Hit D to reset colors, then grab the gradient tool, and hit the Reflected Gradient button (4th from the left), then where it says "Mode" change that to "Difference". You can then go as crazy on your canvas as you want to get ~ smaller clicks and drags will make finer lines, longer clicks make broader lines. When you're done, hit CTRL + U to open up the Hue and Saturation menu. Click colorize and play with the settings to get something you enjoy. If you kinda like it but not quite, you can futz with the Brightness & Contrast settings, along with levels, curve, or anything else you diddle with to make your image cool also applying the wave filter to your new background is way to change things up. Play around, have fun! When you see an area you think is cool, grab the Marquee tool and copy it out. Thirdly, if you're interested more, I'd recommend going to http://www.good-tutorials.com/ and checking around in what they have. There's a tut for almost anything there, and you can better familiarize yourself with Photoshop by following the steps outlined. This way you can eventually go "I'll combine this effect with that one, and while I won't be near what either of those end results were, I now have my own cool picture to show off." Stay with it! Photoshop and graphic design in general is a fun field to be a part of ~ I try and get as many people as I can addicted to photoshop as much as I Best of luck to you and keep posting your work!
  13. I think as far as FFXI goes, it's really dumb to buy someone's account for a few reasons:1) If you bought an account with a char that has a job decently leveled (40-50) and you try to play it, you really have no idea what's expected of that character in the party and people in your partys will soon be trying to replace you.2) There's a solid storyline behind FFXI that is told through various missions in the game that build up a person's rank over time. What good is it to you if you have a character who is rank 7 out of 10 ranks and you want to take it to rank 10? It'd be like picking a 300 page book and flipping to page 200 and trying to understand what's going on.3) If/when you get into a linkshell (think: guild, clan, society, etc.) you will be wanting to know what to do, so you'll ask the LS what to do, where to go, etc. By your lack of knowledge, the fact that you bought an account will be apparent to the others.Personally, unless you've already played the game and you've gotten a character higher level and you know what's going on, I think buying an account is the fast lane to boredom in the game, because it seriously limits what you can yet experience in the game.Ciao
  14. I too was looking at getting an LCD for the computer I'm saving for, and my main concern was the "ghosting" that most LCD's are famous for, as I not only enjoy surfing and graphic editing, but I'm also addicted to FFXI and I also play a few FPS's as well. After going over to Tom's Hardware and doing a bit of looking around, I found an article talking about different "high end" 19" LCD's. The one that grabbed my eye was the Hyundai (Image Quest) monitor, seen here on newegg. Affordable for the performance delivered. I full on intend to purchase one of these once I get the $_$ saved up Here's the link to the LCD article, if this could be merged with my last post that'd be great: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  15. Wow, absolutely incredible. Mind if I borrow it and do some digital coloring?
