I may be different than most of you. I can't really afford any program so I went with the free version of Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2005. It has a great editor just like dreamweaver and the newer 2008 version allows you to use a wysiwyg editor as well. In fact I built all of my websites using it. I have never built a website with a program that I have paid for.

I am sure many of you have heard of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator and their "FREE" competition, The Gimp and Inkscape. Personally myself I love all Adobe Software, but can't afford any of it. Anyone here use The Gimp or Inkscape and can they show some of there work from it. I have just recently started using the two, although I design my websites with Adobe Photoshop, but it's my fiances brother's Adobe Photoshop. So I just use it more than he does to get my work done. I have to say though the developers of The Gimp and Inkscape did a really good job and are doing a great job keeping up with their top dollar competition.

After years of not practicing any html or graphic design I have finally made my return. I wasn't that great to start with because I was learning, but that's irrelevant now. Now I am a college student majoring once again in graphic design. Last time I never finished, because of circumstances, but now I am back. It was fun being able to chose web design as one of my classes. My final project got a score of 200 out of 200 possible points. I designed a website for my former youth group back in Ft. Myers, Florida. endtimearmy.bravenet.comIt has been hosted on a free host, since they didn't have the money to pay for it, but all in all I thought it came out good.Ever since then I create a couple of websites, some paid jobs and some not. One of which is my own personal website http://www.adrian-rodriguez.net/ and the one I would like you guys to critique. I have only been doing this since November of 07. I started school in August of 07. So for a newbie at this, especially at CSS I would like your comments and thoughts on it. God Bless,Adrianadrian-rodriguez.net

Coder Or Designer? HELP ME SOLVE THIS DILEMMA
thewebkid replied to phill3112's topic in Websites and Web Designing
It is always good to know html. This way when you playing around with Dreamweaver and you want to make some changes to the code, you can do so. Also is you want to make a career out of it, I would strongly recommend learning Xhtml and CSS. No one will want to hire you if you only know how to build a website using Dreamweaver. Although never underestimate it's power. Dreamweaver is definitely one of the most powerful web design tools out there and some people and companies prefer to learn to use Dreamweaver than invest in a web designer.Hope that helps! -
Hey everyone my name is Adrian. I am a student and freelance web and graphic designer. I love designing websites and every single one of mine are hosted on a free hosting plan. I like to check out different ones to see if the offers and plans get better. So far I have heard a lot of good things about this one and I plan on building another website using the free hosting package offered here. I love graphics and computers, but not as much as I love God. He has brought me out of tremendous struggles these past four years of my life and I'd love to share with everyone how. Anyway I look forward to posting and having some disk-pace, lol. God Bless,Adrian
