tuxcomputing replied to garbage's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Wow.Fast loading for a Joomla site :PDid you make the template yourself or just 'inspired'?If you did it yourself.. I must say.. great turnout!Doesn't Xisto have mod_rewrite active? why don't you activate sef support? Also, I'm guessing this is version 1.0.x; did you try the 1.5 series?Cheers ^^ -

I'm having some display problems with Firefox...The lower part of the site (part that has the "SOTM" title) is seen all messy.Windows xp sp2 and firefox 2.0.0.12 -
Ads placement tip:You should personalize your adsense ad template so it matches your site's design. (get rid of the borders at least)Also include the banners in a nice location inside or near the content so you'll get some clicks. If you're beginning a site make sure to skip the ads part and keep the site ads-free for a while... attracts people :PCheers^^

The Eirest Green A forest animal RP site

Nice advertising campaign. Especially liked the part where you "found" "a rather new, but excellent," site..How exciting!Let's review your post, shall we?1."The organization on this site is fantastic. I am pretty surprised at how well everything is placed, and how parallel everything is to everything else."In what way.. is this organization fantastic? Ok, I understand that everything is placed neatly but being amazed that everything is so parallel to everything else?! Come on, it's a forum script ... forums.... have parallel categories and forums.. I've seen thousands... where's the amazement??!2.All of the members are kind, helpful, literate, good roleplayers and active.Needless to say.. there are only 6 of them... without you rounds it up to about.. hmm.. 5!No wonder they're so nice.. and literate and helpful. I assure you that once your userbase increases.. (if it ever does) you'll get inactive, not so helpful, illiterate wastes of mysql database.3."Although simple, the design is very beautiful. The font is all automatically white"Saved the best for last I see... The design is ...beautiful and the font seems to magically go white.. amazing!...The font turns automatically white guys! go visit that site... seriously! And the colors don't hurt your eyes... WHAT colors? it's plain eye-raping green! One of the worst pieces of *** I've ever seen...And one more thing.. how come there's only one point for everything? -
Any idea if they have mod_rewrite on?Seem like a "same-old" hosting site that we've seen on the net in the past years (like 100mb , 95mb, etc) that proves worthless if you are planning on developing a php site.Just my 2 cents

Want To Open Shopping Portal In My Site What i do
tuxcomputing replied to imtaqi's topic in Websites and Web Designing
So I'm guessing that you want to do something like alibaba? I'm guessing the cheapest way to do that is using Joomla! and an auction or ads component. It's also the simplest way to go -
It would be a lot easier to go to your local bank and get a debit card that you can use over the .net Most of them offer much more than the average internet-only debit card and you get fewer taxes and such.

Multiple Forum Skins To have, or not to have?
tuxcomputing replied to rs redemption's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Hi,It's better that you create your own design, something your visitors will remember and will associate your site with that particular design.People that have seen some forums in their lifetime ( like me ) know what the "default" is and tend to hate it. Try to add your own design.Cheers^^ -
You don't need any coding language to learn/know seo, but you need to know what coding language is bad for your site.(not to misinterpret:coding languages aren't bad unless you sue them wrong)Based on your limited info about your goal (learning seo) I would recommend 'ye ol' Google for help. You'll find some nice tutorials to help you perform better in search engines. Be sure to experiment with all of them and find what is best for your site.Cheers ^^

My dear zamaliphe, this is very simple. People want to trade using cash because unlike credit cards, they can *see* money going from their hand to the other person's hand and vice versa. Some people may just be old fashioned and refuse the new technology which they believe "will do harm", etc. As for the second part of your inquiry... The cheapest way to accept credit cards on your site is 2checkout[dot]com. Some people say it isn't that great.. some people praise it. I have an account but don't use it so I can't really tell you what's going on there. If the credit card is stolen you will have a 'chargeback" and all money deposited from that credit card will be refunded to it's owner. You get your money at the end of the month, as a bank transfer or check. You might want to try moneybookers or paypal instead of directly accepting credit cards. Cheers ^^
