  1. I can't find the thread, maybe it was deleted.Anyway we can ask some to moderators or admins, up to now they haven't said a single word about this idea. If we will have the approval of someone with more powers than us, the thing will be better (and get some advertisement :D)

  2. It has been announced in this forum some days ago, I don't remember the topic, but I remember that a member have asked to place a feature that allow transfers instead Reputation Points (that actually doesn't exist). And Opaque has spoken about this feature.

I like the email address but we could use the pm system. The organizer would need the password and username for the email account but if we use pming it would be easier to track down and penalise spammers and find out the person who sent the answer.

Ok, but I've thought about an email (each organizer can choose one, it can be its email or an email built fro this event) so it'll be easier send a work.
    Anyway we can use PM

  3. I think that this can be the best rules:

Who can enter a competition: Newbie Level 3 (Active in last 3 weeks)
Who can organize a competition: Member Level 3 (Active in last month)

I will try to make a list of who can organize, so I will be able to understand how much people can do this.

although the no post count may deter people from entering.

I've thought that people dosen't post their results, but they will send them to the organizer.

  4. It's a nice idea and I like it but you have to find an admin interested in dealing with the credits because you can't transfer them.

I have understood that now you can make this, so what is THIS? Maybe I haven't understood this completely.

A good 90% of the active members here are hosted and if there not, they are planning to request hosting. If you want people joining, you're gonna have to eradicate that rule. Also, the whole point is to get quality posts. You could make 100 posts of complete c--p and you would still get in. Maybe make it 20 or 30 credits and 40 for those who are non-hosted, because their credits don't go down daily. Most people have around 30.

I admit that about not hosted I have made a mistake, this is an example and I simply would like to say that rules should allow many people to access this, but only people that works for months, not the first newbie. For this reason I told that moderators can allow someone that not match requirements.

  5. I thought about it when I discover that exist a way to transfer credits. Many other have suggested website contests or quiz (both with rewards), but I thought about a new idea of contests.

They can be about anything (from math to PHP, from findind much thnigs about something strange on the web to what you want), but that can't be resolved simply looking on a book or a single web site.

This an example of how they should be organized

Title: Find many informations you can find on the web about Coal Skink. You must tell us where did you find info, sites with lower Page Rank give more points.

Join fee: 5 credits (1 for transfering fee)

Prizes: 1st place=50% of credits collected

                        2nd place=30%

                        3rd place=20%

    Minimum "players": 5

Aids: 1 aid every 4. It can be given to hosted members with at least 75 posts and active in the last two weeks, to this will be given the 5 credits fee, if they will lose, they will pay the fee, while they will win, the fee will be deducted from the prize

My idea is that anyone that match some requirements (for example: not hosted and never hosted in last 4 months, at least 100 posts, active in last 2 weeks, moderators can allow someone that doesn't match the requirements) can start a competition in a new forum section (no post count, obviusly). Can exist rules that punish who steal credits, for example a 10% warn every 5 credits + 10 credits removed every 5 credits or something worse.

But it's important that not only moderators or very old members can organize them, they should be opened to at least 10-20% of members.

This is my suggestion, and I think that you can make something similar. And this will bring you more visitors and it will be a new way to enjoy for members.

  6. Dear Galahad. I've preferred a 645Ci or, why not, a M6? But they're both too expensive. All other cars cost about ?60-70000 (here in Italy), while these other overcome 80000.Ok, it will be a present, but i don't want to bleed my relatives :D P.S. I don't care more about max speed (exts speed limits in Italy), more to accelleration (that can be useful at traffic lights :( )

  7. Any forum has its section with photos of its members, but why here there ins't? So, to cover this lack, I will start posting my photo, exactly the photo of my class.

Obviusly it isn't so easy, now you will have to discover who I'm.

    Some clues:

1- I'm not the fattest and not the thinnest

2- I'm not the tallest and not the shorter

3- I'm not wearing any clothes with bands' names

4- I'm not a pervert that like Winnie Pooh (I'll not carry on, there're underages in this forum)

Now you have to discover who I'm, and obviusly post your photo

  8. I've thought the same thing, at the beginning, but at the end I've found a real difference between Virgin's spaceships and the history of car and airplane. First: both were created as new vehicles, while Virgin's spaceships hasn't nothing new. The experiment made by Ratan is useful, but the application of Branson not.Second: you say that cars and airplanes, too, are toys for richs. Yes, I agree with this, but not a toysg for all, but only for who really like this. Driving a car or an airplane, at the beginning, was very dangerous and you had to be very skilled. While what skills you need to flight with Virign's spaceships, and it seems that will be no risks. First drivers of cars and airplanes with their expensive toys have helped to make them better. What Virgin's spaceships' passenger can do, maybe say to its 5th avenue neighbours to try it.Maybe the reasons of this is that we live more than one cen maketury later, but first cars and first airplanes aren't toys for richs, but sports for richs. I think that we need to research more on spaceships, and not start with ridicolous trips. I have preferred a small spaceship that you can use to make a little trip, with various risks of it. And so it will become a sport, more thana toy. This is my opinion.

  9. Tycoon Sir Richard Branson has formed a new aerospace company to build a fleet of commercial spaceships. The Spaceship Company will be jointly owned by Branson's Virgin Group and Burt Rutan, whose SpaceShipOne won the 10-million-dollar "X Prize" for sending a privately-designed craft into space twice in two weeks.

Very nice thing, but the cost? 200000$ for a single flight!!!

Like many millions of people growing up in the Sixties who witnessed the wonder of man walking on the moon - I dreamt that one day I too would make that 'one small step'," Branson said in a statement.

Yes, you and some other (not millions) will use this and will make their dreams a real event.
Ok, I think that tech development is a good things, but this what can do for the human race? What real help can it give to people and to the science? This will be only a new toy for rich people that will could afford a so expensive flight.
If I'd like to make this (the first flight will be in 2008) I have to spend two years of earnings of my parents. And my family has a quite good earning.
These things are very fool, and I hate them. :D

  10. Yes, I agree with Tyssen. When it was ideated, the separation, would be a way to take away powers from the Church. But I have to admit that often the Church has still many powers, here in Italy particularly. With Lateranensi's Pacts made by Mussolini and the Pope in 1929, the Catholic Church has received back many power taken away in the XIX century during the Italian Indipendence Wars. For example exist the reliogious hour at school (now you can choose to don't attend it) and the 8X1000 (when you declare your incomes to tax office, you can choose to destiny the 0.8% of you taxes to the state or to churchs, many citizens don't make any preferences. So, according to the law, all this 0.8% will go to who have received more preferences: the Catholic Church). This give many powers and money to Chruch, or not? Then Italian citizens have many contacts with the church, for example many of them haven't voted at the last referendum becasue the Pope has asked that (it was a referendum about the research on embryos).Yes, the separation doesn't exist.
