  1. Firewire has a wider throughput to negotiate and sync audio and video in capturing the DV tape from camera to computer. It is common mistake for newbies to use the USB port in the DV camera to get their video clips via USB onto the computer. It is like pushing a monster truck onto an alley. USB is 480 mbps as opposed to Firewire 400 mbps; it is faster but with a narrow throughput. Usually non-linear video editing softwares like the old Ulead and Pinnacle systems would crash or hang while capturing video via USB. Take my word for it. Just add a firewire card for less headache. I have yet to hear how to use firewire port to connect to the internet for FREE!? :o And never having to pay for your ISP? :D I wonder what medication djstarskream is using to get an idea? Is that possible? Wow!

Yeah, I've heard that firewire actually better for video and such, as it gives a more solid signal, whereas USB messes with the data, while giving a higher transfer rate.
That's why you never see cams with USB, it's usually firewire for video editing.

  2. Does anyone know of the K-Meleon project? It is a mozilla based browser. In my opinion, it is the fasted browser have I ever seen!
    http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Interesting find. I've never heard of it.

K-Meleon is an extremely fast, customizable, lightweight web browser for the Win32 (Windows) platform based on the Gecko layout engine (the rendering engine of Mozilla). K-Meleon is free, open source software released under the GNU General Public License.

Looks like it's win32, based off firefox. I like to see open source programs making their way out there. Maybe in the future this program will be a viable choice, for now though, firefox for me please. Haha. I just love the stuff firefox has going... adblock, flashgot, the themes, all of it, I'm hooked.

  3. I can't believe I forgot about it but Friday September 21, 2004 was the day I joined trapped and the rest you could say is history and so I present my 3 year anniversary sig that I just finished designing like 5 minutes ago so enjoy and let my evil reign for another 3 years here on Xisto.com

That's some sig. Do you study graphic design somewhere SM? I myself am a HS student and I really want to hone my graphic design skills, I actually have taken 2 years of classes in graphic design. Most of our work is done in 3d studio though, however we do use photoshop on a regular basis. I've actually been with photoshop since version 5, back on our old mac haha.

  4. It sounds like you have really high metabolism. You could be blessed, or it could be an overactive thyroid. In ten years, if it is still high, your friends will be secretly jealous.
I don't mean to get too personal, and please don't answer this out loud, but are your bowel movements regular? It's like that song from Scrubs, "Everything Comes Down to Poo." That could help determine if there's a medical problem or not.

Bread is not that filling unless it is whole grains, and that shouldn't be the only thing you should eat for breakfast. Try adding eggs, since the protein in them will help with that full filling. Also, try a piece of fruit. So maybe instead of three pieces of toast for breakfast, you should have one slice, an apple and a boiled egg, or some similar variety.

I think it's okay to be really hungry in the morning. I mean, the stomach hasn't had a chance to eat anything while you are sleeping.

Discuss your concerns with your family doctor or your school nurse. As well-intentioned as we all are, I don't think most of us have any medical backgrounds.

Haha. That's a funny question. I have a high metabolism myself Bluebear. I guess we are one alike. Through my personal experience, eating healthy and stacking on calories when you can is what does you best. I just recently started packing a second lunch haha.

  5. Hello everyone,
The other day I was talking to a couple of my friends and as I was nagging them to stop smoking one of them said that my nagging too is sort of an addiction like their smoking. I mean the fact that the habit of nagging is considered an addiction.

That set me thinking that for all we know, Everything that we do might be an addiction, our computers, books, videogames, Junk food.

I totally agree that Iam addicted to food, books, talking and games. Dont you think that posting too is an addiction in a way?

    Freaky but so cool.

I'd love to hear about what you define as an addiction and I would love to hear yours

    Cheers :o

Addiction to me is really defined by unhealthy behavior that affects you or others negatively, and is uncontrollable and often unobserved.

In that, I'd say I am in no way an addict.

However, I like to think that I am addicted to:

    -My girlfriend, gawd she's gorgeous
-My computer, it's... a tool. Hahah.
-My car, 72' red vw super beetle. HOW THE HELL NOT?
-My family, I can't live without them
-My studies, they give me purpose

  6. Once I ever got to know how to use a computer and found out many things that a computer can do I was surprised. It all started when I got on a computer for my first time playing a game that my cousin had let me play. This was 5 years ago and now I am very addicted to the computer and if I stop using the computer for about a day or week I feel like i'm gonna die or something. The only time I don't feel like using the computer is when my cousins and families visit from other places. Or when I play a video game that is not on the computer.

Hmm, I'd say you are an addict. That is not always bad. I would say, as long as you are productive on the computer, you are doing fine.

What I mean is, if you are using your computer time to make graphics, do school work, or better yourself in any way or create something, you are merely exercising your creative nature through the computer. That is my objective and in that I hope to see an addiction.

  7. I AM VERY MUCH ADDICTED TO NET and my freinds used to call me net-eria(means a net being) i couldn't concentrate on my studies at that time but i worked over it to overcome that addiction now i only spend 10 hours a week on the net only.i think it is not addiction anymore relative to 50+ hours a week which i earlier used to spend on the net and that too on cheap sites.
i think maturity comes only after some experience.

    Oh gee, who isn't?

    Just kidding

I am somewhat, however, addiction is really defined by the inability to control the amount of time you spend, and not realizing that you have a problem when in fact, you do.

I'd say I spend about 10 hours a week, maybe up to 20 if I have things to do, or very little outside of computer play time. I have been told that I am addicted, however, for many periods, I have abandoned my keyboard all together, so I would say that I am not an addict, but I would leave it open to debate, for I really do enjoy being in control of my life and my body.

  8. Well this is a really crazy topic.
Since i was little my mom spoiled me and gave me coffee at a really really early age. At first it was a weird taste and i did not really like it at all but for some reason i kept drinking it every morning. Some can say i did this because i was "addicted" but maybe i just liked the fact that i was drinking a drink i should not be drinking at all. So somehow i was a bit of a grown up. I drink soda's all the time. I went through a weird phase though when i started to drink just water but that was basically because i had no soda in reach. Now i have a new addiction which is starbucks. mmm frap anyone? i still drink soda all the time do not get me wrong i love stripes 64 oz fountain drink for 99cents i get it as often as i can in drink it in the course of a couple hours. I also notice that when i dont drink caffeine a can be really rude and i get headaches. The thing i hate most is that i snap at people i do not mean to. and then i end of feeling guilty of having someone mad at me and it makes me sad and i drink more caffeine i do not know if you can say i am addicted to it but i guess that can be a reason for my moodiness.

That's pretty bad man. I'd hate to be that dependent on caffeine. I myself drink coffee now and then. However, I try very hard to keep my doses small and far between. I do enjoy sitting down for some coffee, or chugging an energy drink with the bros, but I am happy to say I am in no way dependent.

This was not always the case, however. Formerly, I drank soda and coffee rather frequently, but this was not my routine, it was merely a lapse in my regiment. I often think, "I'll do great if I just drink some coffee", but I think back on how it alters my lifestyle and overall character, and I abstain.

Still, coffee is delicious. I do enjoy an occasional frap now and then. Well, as much as my wallet or my conscience allow.

  9. I agree with many points of the second post. Sorry OP. Many forums lack quality and user base. There are just too many forums out there for someone to jump on yours. I think the best way to go about creating a forum, would be to gather a following in one way or another, and bring them together using a forum. Then, and only then, can you expand your audience to a variety of people. I am working on a forum right now, but before it goes online, I am going to gather some clan members, maybe some close friends, or just a few prospective individuals, and THEN I will flip the switch and start it going. I also would say, OP, before you give advice, go seek some, and take in the information on starting a forum, and tell posters what HAVING a forum really entails, don't just hand them a tablet to scribble on, teach them LANGUAGE.Still, your guide is much appreciated and it will doubtlessly help people understand how to go about achieving their objective. :o

  10. nirmaldaniel,

you are certainly spending very less time in sleeping during the night time. and that is the reason why you are feeling very sleepy during your work hours during the day time.

you should spend at least 7 - 8 hours of sleeping at night to get a good and a refreshing sleep and rest. this will ensure that your body gets all the rest and energy to work during the day time.

if you don't spend time sleeping at night then it will a sleepy affair for you during the day time.

not sleeping in a regular and normal manner during night time may also lead to a lot of health problems and i even read some where that you can reduce the chances of heart attack if you practice regular sleeping time during night.

it has many other benefits also.

if you still cant get enough sleep consult a doctor. he will be able to guide you.

a psychiatrist will be the best person you can approach if it is unavoidable.

    good luck!

I agree. I get 7-8 every night, but I'm 17 and still growing very much. I'm 6'4" gah! Haha. I read all the posts on this topic and I must say, it is very informative. I had no idea how much sleep affects a person. o2 levels, metabolism, lifespan!? Wow. I will try and get to bed at 10 tonight. I wake at 6:50 to 7:00 am, so getting the whole 9 hours ought to do me good. Hmm. Thank you all for your opinion, and thank you OP for bringing the issue to light.

I have one question though: I am underweight, 6'4" and 142lbs. I have an ultra high metabolism. Yes, I eat. Yes, I eat A LOT. I was just wondering, can adjusting my sleep pattern help me gain weight?

  11. if you do enough push-ups to wear yourself out, or make your muscles feel
    tired, then that's good

i've been doing that for about 3 days and can tell

that my muscles are getting bigger

    try pumping iron brah

Yeah, I run a little, and do pushups nightly. I do sit ups as well, but because I am underweight, I try not to exert myself. Do you, or does anyone, suggest a specific routine for me to gain mass? I weight 142lbs and am 6'4"

  12. Being into sports I really am a balanced person, I have a great appetite. For instance, for dinner tonight I had 2 chckcen legs 16oz of meat from the bird. another 8oz of stuffing and 8oz mashed potatoes and 3 peices of broccli. I play lacrosse so when I go out and practice I come back real hungry. Even when the season is over I still eat alot with not impact on my body shape or weight really, its kinda funny. I do gain weight but its just because I get more muscular, I also play waterpolo. I am about 5' 11'' and weigh about 140 lbs. Im not a very skiny person, yet not big boned either, sorta a perfect combination for my standards :o. I have such trouble gaining weight, ive started taking somotheis every morning to help increase my weight, although it might not seem like it I also race motocross and I need to be more heavy, compared to my CRF250R's weight witch is about 204 punds dry, about 225 lbs with gas. So for me its hard to really whip my bike around, but I have gotten used to the bike and I can really throw out some insane whips now these days :D Anyways ive been taking these smothies that I make myself every morning with some strawberries, milk, ice, Protein powder, bannannas, eggs x2, and last I put in some ice cream :D and yogurt. Its helped me alot with gaining weight, although it is gonna be awhile before I start gaining alot it will take some time, but also will help with starting my day with the right nutrients. I highly recomend drinking a good protein or smoothie, it helps gain wieght and helps you stay healthy.

Yeah, I weigh 142 pounds and I'm 6'4". Haha. I AM skinny. I have tried mass shakes, and protein for a period, and I eat a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I also eat snacks a lot, and try to eat high calorie foods. I exercise enough, and I do at least 40 push ups everynight, but I don't know... I just can't seem to put ANYTHING on. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really have tried a lot.

I managed to configure my samsung sch-u740 flip phone, seen above, to connect to the internet at speeds of about 200kbs, that's 25kbps down for file transfer. I have it rigged up thru USB to be a Dial-Up modem. I can connect and browse the web fully, and I only receive billing for the minutes I am connected. Because my plan has free nights and weekends, I am able to browse the web FREE during the nights and weekends. Great? I think so.

If you are interested, simply head on over to these links, and READ. That's the important part, be sure to absorb all the information before attacking your phone, because getting billed for this stuff is NO fun. Haha.

    For SCH-u740

The method seen above works on many phones, and the site above will get you there. They have it all.

    zaksenterprises.com/

This site, zaks, will walk you through enabling free mobile internet, that is, the browser included on many phones. I got it working, so imagine anyone else can as well.

I hope this helps you all!

  14. I just got the game, and I must say, fantastic.

It's so much fun! The only problem is that you can't delete units! I built a big wall around my factory, and the darn thing wouldn't go away, so, I was trapped. Haha, no big deal. It's still so much fun. I guess that makes you more responsible when building units, right? I love the massive scale of the game. It's epic really. You can harbor a MASSIVE army and with a single click mobilize it. I also like the refined interface. By leaving out minor options and leaving them up to AI, the game eases the burden of commanding the large forces it enables you to command. I have only had the game for a day and I am already hooked. The thing I love about RTS games is the minor amount of time needed. Overall, a great game. Having played AOE, CC, WC3, WC2, SC, SC:BW, and many others, this RTS tops the list. I wonder how the online community is? That will be my next endeavor. Just have to wait for my pay check to come in. Hehe. :o

    PS: Dual screen support? YES!

  15. I'd have to disagree with this post. Sorry OP. I think Harry Potter is an inspiration to young kids around the world, and gives the youth of today a role model, without giving them a costume to put on. What I mean by this is, Harry Potter is given qualities that we can all gain from, yet he is not someone we can actually become because of the fact he is a wizard.

  16. I am a huge fan of sci-fi books. Arthur C Clarke, Robert A Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, the list goes on...

My favorite ones are the old dusty copies. The tiny books, yellowed with age, crisp to the touch, and aromatic of the dusty bookshelf they once inhabited. That's sci-fi to me.

I suppose I really am not heading anywhere with this post, so let me give it purpose.

Does anyone recommend one such classic to me? I am looking for a really good one, one of your favorites.

Please PM me with your favorite or recommendation.

  17. My website 3dquid.t3jem.trap17.com is dedicated just to hosting the 3d quidditch game I made. I believe it is the very first 3D 14 player quidditch game to date and i'm excited about it. It's nowhere near completion and should probably be classified as alpha version rather than beta, but oh well. My site only gives updates about what i'm doing with it, features, planned features, a download, and an email page to send me messages and or questions.

Hey, that's really cool! I installed it. I was able to run the program, however there are no servers listed. Congratz on an excellent game. Once it gets more popular or sees some more improvement, I'd be happy to play, share, or possibly assist in its development. I am quick with the grafix. Haha. Email me with any developments, LiveHiFi@gmail.com.

  18. Recently, I bought a pair of Sony MDR-G42LP Street Style Headphones and up until a day ago they have worked fine. Unfortuneatly, the right ear piece has stopped producing sound, and I am now left with a pair of clunky mono headphones. People constantly experience this issue of faulty headphones. However, by picking the slightly more expensive choice, I assumed I was getting a better value. Sony products have, in the past, left me satisfied. However, I sorely miss the $22.99 USD that I spent on these headphones, as, after mild and respectful use, I now have another pair of mono headphones to add to my collection.
