i use SMF and IPB. i really like vbulliten as well, but i dont have a license for it. SMF has the best support by far, and im actually online friends with some of the support staff. so i highly recommend SMF. its really simple and so awesome. but IPB is really nice, but the admin panel isnt as organized and clean as SMF...i would just suggest continuing with SMF, once 2.0 comes out, so many cool things have been added. and its still got all the functionality from before.

for 500 bucks, you wont get much. but still, get at least 1 gig of RAM, if you are running vista, no less than 2 gigs. you will need a decent video card, but most machines with vista have good enough ones, especially with your budget, thats probably the best you could do. i would recommend going with xp, however, because there is more compatibility with games and such. you will basically need a dual core, if not quad core processor for gaming and such. If your budget is only 500, you cant expect much from a video card, but just go with the cheapest option when buying the computer, then upgrade to something with at least 256 mb of dedicated ram, if not more. games now-a-days are pretty demanding. dont get lower than a 120 gig hard drive, i skimped out and got an 80 gig, now i want to install vista, ubuntu, and still have xp, and its not working out.dell is your best bet, or compaq. but check manufacturer websites, then look at local stores, and see how different the prices are. that will tell you where to buy from by how different the prices are normally. most likely the local stores will have the better deal, but i got mine from dell directly and it was a better deal doing that. just look around. and check newegg.com too.

Pearl Harbor, Could Have It Been Prevented?
silver_wolves replied to GrandG's topic in Science and Technology
well, there were so many warning signs of the attack, i dont know how it wasnt prevented. but if you are saying it was a conspiracy of sorts, i dont think so. some times things just go unnoticed, even though they are quite obvious. -
I love those commercials. but Microsoft cant really do anything, cuz they aren't lying about their os' or anything. its all facts. it is surprising, however, that Microsoft han't launched a similar campaign.

Buying Laptop, What Brand Is The Best For Me? Please help.
silver_wolves replied to Twinkies's topic in Software
i still dont see why you dont just get a macbook....you could run windows vista on it (it was rated the fastest laptop for vista by pcworld) and a linux distro if you wanted. ive never had problems with my mac. but then again, you could get an hp and put os x and a linux distro on it. the only reason i recommend macs is that they are amazing for graphics and can run vista better than a windows a machine can for the same price....what apps are you going to be using? -
Movie Review: Superbad Is Super Good
silver_wolves replied to Saint_Michael's topic in General Discussion
This was an amazing movie. i saw it a couple days ago and i almost died laughing. there really isnt a bad part in this movie. the beginning is hilarious because they do so many stupid things. the cops and mclovin are great because they are all acting stupid. and the party is great because its just flat out funny. i would definitely rate this 10/10. GREATEST. MOVIE. EVER!!!!!! -
if you are just looking to tone your body, running and pushups and sit ups are the way to go. but if you want to build a lot of muscle mass, you will either need to do a lot of pushups and sit ups, or use weights. running should always be included as it helps tone your body. if you were just doing pushups and sit ups, you would gain muscle mass, but it wouldnt show as well becuase running burns off the fat above it. which reminds me that i should probably get back into running with my work out.

Buying Laptop, What Brand Is The Best For Me? Please help.

well, when i read that, i was like, how could a mac be out of the question, it would be perfect for you. but if you dont want that, go with an alienware laptop, if money isnt a question, but otherwise, i would look around at local stores for deals, not online, unless you go to newegg.com. i really like the sony vaio as well, but they tend to be pricey. so maybe an hp as that is pretty much the only other good brand out there that is cheaper. i would also recommend acer, they are very nice as well.but for real, a mac would be the best way to go in your situation. -
yea, demonoid is down for torrents, however they still have a forum for the community to stay together.they werent arresting them, but they were threatened by their host because they could have gotten sued for hosting them. so that is why they are down and gone forever (torrent wise). too bad tho, i really liked demonoid.

is cool and all, but why the hell would you need a computer that big? its a waste of space and money. the thing would be about 30,000 bucks, if not more. sure, it has some cool features, but half of em prolly barely work, seeing as the product is from microsoft. it would be great if it was practical, but it really isnt. it probably breaks pretty easy too. but if it was better and a mac, i would buy it in a heartbeat.

5 Things We Miss About Old-school Computing
silver_wolves replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Software
gosh, i remember all that! i remember buying 64mb of RAM for my first computer, thinking it was so much and i would never need more. things were a lot simpler back then, i miss that to some extent. -
well, it also depends on the car and what your using it for, in my opinion.if you have a tuner car (ie a lancer or 350z or something like that) i would go for the turbo, unless you are racing it for lots of money, then go for the supercharger.if you have a muscle car (ie mustang or camaro) supercharger period.if you have a high-end import, it depends on the use and the kind. turbos are helpful in some ways, while superchargers in others.

im going to have to disagree, if anything, its becoming more and more unacceptable. if you hit some or abuse somebody in any way of a different race, namely african americans, they will almost always call it a hate crime and blame it on race. its quite hard to hate somebody for their race, skin, religion, disability, sex or anything else, without being hated back or even possibly charged. But most people claim everything is a hate crime, which is ridiculous. i dont see why people cant just get along and deal with it.

honestly, they are both great to me. the both went through periods of ugliness. however, the camaro i think is better overall. its way more powerful and look insanely good. but since the camaro line was discontinued for a while, and still is until the 2009 line comes out, i would have to say the mustang triumphs there. they are both long surving muscle cars; longer than any other. but it all comes down to the brand, and im going to have to say the camaro because i like chevy better. and the mustang is insanely bulky. but i can wait to see if the dodge charger concept is put into prodcution, it looks amazing.
