All thanks to one game - well, 2 but they are Unreal Tournament 2003 & 4... so addictive, so fun I got into them when I realised UT2003 was the only FPS that would play acceptably on my old 56k connection, and old habits die hard  .Wanna try some new games soon though, now I have ADSL... maybe CS or ET, any free FPS that get the adrenaline pumping 8)

  7. 1. Create an image 16X16 pixels in size. Yes, it is really small and you can't really draw much in it. You should also restrict yourself to the standard Windows 16 colours, although I suspect that 256 colours will work fine. If you like, you can also create a 32X32 pixel icon, which will be scaled to size for the Favorites menu and the location bar. You can even put both 16X16 and 32X32 pixel icons into the same icon file. Windows will use the former for its menus and the latter when the user opens up a folder that is set to display large icons. It's probably not really necessary to do this if you can't be bothered. 2. Save the image as an ICO file (named "favicon.ico", of course). 3. Upload it to your website. You don't need to upload one to every directory of your site if you don't want to waste space - simply put it in your root directory and IE will apparently locate it eventually. You can also upload it into your images directory, but you will need to modify your web pages if you do. See later in this article for more information on this. <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
  8. Bleh  Good point Niekie, I don't see how Google are gonna make any money off Gmail without people being forced to look at their ads. Naturally, anyone who does feel they suffer from them should look no further than the Firefox extension Adblock --> http://adblock.mozdev.org/ , or something like that What, not using Firefox? You must be mad.
  9. Mozilla Firefox 1.0, and occasionally, Opera 7.54.

  17. Hmmm.... Strange, I thought they got the money from showing their adsense ads on the page and that's why they could offer so much MB ( 1 gb )

  22. mysql with php. Continued from the php tutorial this uses tables like Excel... sooo you create headings for tables along the x axis.....and can have lots of rows with different values. Its called a database..but the best analogy is probably with excel. You can use php to insert data, delete data, or edit data.... but.. 1) first you need to connect. e.g. at the top of the page you need to write something like this ADJUSTING the values for your host: <?//set database connection variables$hostname='localhost';$uname='';$password='';$database='';//establish database connectionmysql_connect($hostname,$uname,$password);?> you can make this a bit more complicated....to produce an error if it doesnt work, and if it does, to select the database: //set database connection variables$hostname='localhost';$uname='username';$password='password';$database='database name';//establish database connection$connect = mysql_connect($hostname,$uname,$password);//display error if connection failsif ($connect==FALSE) { print 'Unable to connect to database: '.mysql_error();} else {//select databasemysql_select_db($database);}/*-----------------------------------*/?> Now.... either of those will work..or should do You can use them in 1 of 2 ways... for instance, you could save one as db.php then write <?include 'db.php';////make the rest of the page?> at the top of each php file that you want to use the database in. or you could just write it out over and over again in each page - most sites use the first idea. then add / insert delete files... more added later... people who want to take it further feel free to do so in a reply
  23. i wont do that, becuase its standard, and aa lots of forums has that, if you remove it, your forum will be deleted and you will never get a forum from there.. It doesn't make me sence. From where, phpBB is free. i think he is thinking about InvisionFree or Proboards, or even that one website that gives you free phpBB hosting, but has ads Invision 1.3.X is free, but for the new 2.X.X you have to pay, so that's strange.
  24. You could open the folder .../templates/your-template/phpBB_logo.gif (or something what looks like that) and give your own logo the same name and overwright the banner of phpBB. Or change the link in ..templates/your-template/overall_header.tpl into the link where you upload your logo.
