since i use just a desktop machine, Mandrake is good for me. If you want to try live cds Knoppix n Ubuntu are pretty good.... Also another windows emulator besides Wine is Crossover Office from https://www.codeweavers.com/ Good luck

I have a dual boot on my machine, Linux n ME...though i only use windows for games n a prog or two....Linux is secure (no viruses or spyware), stable, easy to install (try Mandrake if u like) n gives you total freedom on your machine....Windows, well, um, its uh, good for games, and ah, well... It's got good games...

Hey, you can also try the Ubuntu live n installation cds (the live cds will let you try linux without installing anything.)i am currently using windows only for games and a program or two i could get to work with wine (windows emulator).....if you want to have just a desktop machine, try mandrake. its easy to install n maintain. good also for entry level users....good luck

I'm not sure. But a few years ago I had a NEC videophone, it came with software to download midifiles from the pc. Once you've downloaded them, they wouldn't play. It turned out that it was midifiles allright, but a proprietary format where I had to download special conversion software from the web. Maybe you have a similar problem?? If you are stuck, I suggest trying to contact thcinaus next time he is logged in. He seems to know about mobiles and electronics.
