the fan attached to the motherboard is weird!!! it doesn't works in awhile and starts working after some time. could some1 help me wif the problem? coz it causes my pc to autoshutdown sometimes....(too hot)

yeah... erm i am just about to make a script to do it... though it will integrate into my site so i wont be able to give it to you, what i can do is point you in the right direction (as far as i know)... first, the users ip can be found by: <?$ip_address = getenv('REMOTE_ADDR');?>you should set the value ranges for each of the 4 numbers to allow. Im goign to store these as a minimum row and a maximum row in a table. Now... When the page is loaded, compare the $ip_address of the current user by splitting it up to get each of the 4 numbers... if all of the 4 numbers fit within the range assigned to all of the 4 numbers... show the content. If not print user is banned.

I dont know what you mean, but you say that you're getting a directory listing when you try and view your page...if when you click on the right page from that list it takes you to the content...then perhaps it is to do with your .htaccess homepage setup?rename it to index.php or something...? dont know if thats irrelevant or not...but i try

Is it a bad idea for a big site to have 1 row in a mysql table generated each time a user visits a page within the site?I mean, will mysql_num_rows($query) take ages when i have had 1,000 hits?If so, how can i record peoples movements better?

if you want to upload it through ftp you type ftp.(ur domain).xerox-hosting.com but the other way should of worked. I tried it and it worked for me. You have any kind of firewall that could be blocking the ftp link??

Hi, how can i whois an ip address? I want to get an idea of who is visiting my site, which at the moment just records as an IP address, but i want to know how i can change an ip address into a whois address so that it is more readable. My pages are in php. I want something that does the same as the functions here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ though i dont need the form input, as the IP's ill use are in the table. thanks
