  1. My favourite film has to be The Shining. I've watched it a million times and it still creeps me out. It's not bad for being made in the 70s anyway, but I just do not see why it is an 18 rating? I watched it first when I was about thirteen and I did not find it incredibly scary or anything. There's quite a few differences in the movie than in the book. There's no maze in the novel's Overlook Hotel, so the chase between Jack and Danny is done on the top floor of the hotel - which is barely mentioned in the movie.Another thing that is barely mentioned is the hotel's history. Yeah, you see Grady, Jack talks to him about what Grady did but that's about it.The hauntings going on in the Hotel are sort of justified really badly in the movie. The hotel owner states that The Overlook resides on an indian burial ground. Like, how many US horror stories have that in them?Sorry if I ruined a few things for a few people, but I've only mentioned things briefly...

  2. Have you ever experienced something of a paranormal nature?
    Dictionary.com says Paranormal is

of or pertaining to the claimed occurrence of an event or perception without scientific explanation, as psychokinesis, extrasensory perception, or other purportedly supernatural phenomena.

Basically, something that happens without a scientific explanation. Or I just call it "spooky goings on"
The nearest I've got to a paranormal experience was about a year ago. I was walking on a path that led up to a bridge over the canal, on my way to school. The path I was walking in is almost adjacent to a road, but it was quite empty, and quite early in the morning. On the opposite bank of the canal, is a derelict glass works with a yard of cars. I was just minding my own business walking along this pavement, and then I heard some weird noise to my right. It sounded quite eerie, and lasted for less than a couple of seconds. It was coming from really near to my right shoulder - the side by the canal. Only when I turned to look over to my right, nothing was there. Just the canal, no birds or animals on it either. I can't quite describe the sound, just that is was very creepy and not too loud. The noise was shrill and it could maybe have been produce by an animal, but I'm not sure.
I carried on walking and it happened another two times, looking over my shoulder each time, I saw no evidence of what could have been making the noise. The noise actually stopped when I reached the middle of the bridge and when a car happened to go passed me.

My sister has had a paranormal experience before, it happened one day when she was all alone in our house. The room she was in, happened to be our bedroom, on the 2nd floor (2 floors above ground level), and the only room above this bedroom is a very cramped and cluttered attic. Boxes and furniture occupy this room, there's literally no room in there to breathe, yet alone to fit a person in or for them to walk around. This attic is only accessible from a single trapdoor, which is housed in the staircase's ceiling.
Sat around reading a book, nothing spooky I'll have you know, at about five in the evening, she suddenly heard, from above, heavy footsteps, on the opposite side of the room's ceiling. The owner of these footsteps, could have been walking in workman's boots, and they moved in an irregular shuffle. They seemingly headed towards her, no boxes or furniture could be heard scraping out of this person's way, she froze hardly breathing, hardly believing what she could hear. The footsteps neared the ceiling above where she resided, they suddenly stopped. She sat motionless for a hour, never to hear the footsteps again.
She refuses to stay alone in the house to this day.

My friend had an experience with the paranormal today. She was in her bathroom, about to wash her hair, when she heard somebody whisper "red" and then another word. She was quite shocked by this, as you would be if you heard someone talking in a room unoccupied apart from yourself, but when she turned to look, the room was as before - unoccupied. She washed her hair, then looking in the mirror, she sighted a person looking over the top of the bathroom door, which was open slightly. Once again, she looked for a person, but sighted no-one. Not even in the adjoining rooms.

I found these on a forum, they are really quite strange, I must say:

I was in the restroom in the middle of the night. It was winter so a gas heater was lit next to the toilet. Gave off a bit of light. Not sure how old I was but I was small enough that my feel didn't' touch the bathroom floor while I sat on the toilet. I turned and looked at the doorway into the hall. Several of those little balls rolled slowly down the hallway past the door. They rolled past the door then came back and into the bathroom. I remember lifting up my feet because I was scared and didn't want them to touch me. Then they rolled back out.

    The second story:

It wasnt me, but my nannas friend comes from Ireland, and a couple of years he went back to visit all his old friends and family. anyway as he was drving from the airport he saw a guy he used to know on the side of the road, so he pulled up asked where he was going asnd gave him a lift. they spent the whole time talking about when they were young etc. Just before town his friend asked him to pull over and got out, so they parted ways. anyway when he finally reached his destination he told them hed just seen his old friend and they looked at him like he was nuts, apparently the guy had died last week and that morning there'd beena funeral.

    And another:

I was around 12 years old.. in 2000, when I had first gotten my computer, and like many, I used to stay up until 5-7 AM in the morning on it. (ha, what'dyaknow, it's 5:22 AM here right now) I was in the kitchen, cooking some eggs probably.. and I turned around towards the doorway to the living room and saw a black figure walk across the open doorway. I know I saw something walking past.
A few days later, I was going to use the bathroom at around the same time.. when I saw something glowing white moving around through the crack of my Mom's bedroom door. I looked inside and saw nothing after that.

So, have any of you witnessed anything paranormal?

oh, I have found a few extra interesting ones on different forums. KittyRadio and RekordsRekords...

    This one's weird:

I saw this weird thing in the basement of the house i lived in while growing up. it was made of something the consistency of cake batter and sat on a bed down there.
Once I went to a house said to be haunted. There were two little girls who lived there, twins, and I walked by them on the way upstairs to my friend's room. As I passed the twins room, I heard what I thought was them playing and whispering to each other. Then I remembered I had just seen them downstairs and there was no way they could have passed me. I peered into the room but saw nothing.

    From Rekords Rekords (FORUM):

The hospital I work at is really old and fabled with ghost stories. Clients will tell me when I got to their room to check on them that "the lady in white is really nice" or "can you tell the man in black to leave me alone?" The lady in white is a nurse that used to work in the hospital years and years ago. She ended up dying in the hospital. One of my friends worked for 3 days as a ward clerk. He was walking down the hallway at night and she walked right up to him. It freaked him out so bad that he grabbed his stuff and left immediatly, and refuses to come back into the hospital ever again.
The man in black is what I consider the "angel of death" or something close to it. Most of the clients that see this are very close to death. Gives me a bit of a heads up when they tell me this, I know something bad is going on with them.

I have seen things I know were not there at work. This weekend was the worst - we were swamped with ER's coming in and were running our asses off. I would run by the a room and see a glimmer of white for a second and then when I would go back and look it would be empty. And you can walk into a empty room and feel like someone is watching your every move...its kind of creepy, but I keep hoping I see a better view of the ghost sometime.

I lived in Greenfield, Mass., which is very unhappy Indian land and has a strange combination of working-class stiffs and weird, freaky witchcraft-practicing teenagers. My little single was quite haunted with a variety of spooks including, but not limited to:1)a man-sized, greyish portal that resided in the hallway
2)a minor poltergeist that would open drawers after you swore you closed them
3)some vague apparition that looked like an old lady that appeared often in my bedroom(not my gf), and
4)hosts of astral projections, thought forms, minions and the odd lesser demon that would come and go, sometimes doing somebody's bidding and sometimes just floating thru, often harassing me(and certain, aware guests).

When i was 5 or 6, there was a old football changing rooms behind the pub accross the road from my mums old flat. Once some neighbourhood kid locked me and my brother in there and i swear there were skeletons sitting on the benches, and a ghost flying around in circles just below the ceiling. I *BLEEP* myself. I always had a weird feeling about the place ever since, a few years later it got knocked down and a nursery was built were it used to be. I don't have many childhood memories but that is one of the most vivid.

two separate times i have seen light orange orbs in the sky. both times they were stationary in the sky, like very bright stars, but they randomly moved laterally and vertically and then stopped again. several times. no aircraft can possibly move like that. and both times it was three of them, but they didn't seem to be connected. the first time, i was very far out in the country on a dirt road with two guys. it was 3 or 4 in the morning. we got out to look at these things, and after a few minutes of watching we heard a grumbling gravelly voice say "What are you doing?!?!?!??!" from inside a bush three feet away from us. then we ran back to the car and drove away like sissy girls. i still have no idea where the voice actually came from or what the orbs were.

  3. Looks like im gonna have to watch this one day i never knew there was a movie the only FF game iv'e played was part IV its good but im not really too much of a rpg player..but this movie sound interesting

There's actually a few FF movies. I saw one on television a few months ago. I cannot remember what Final Fantasy it is, but it involved being that no plants grew, apart from in some distant parts of the land. I think so. And these sort of like ghostly creatures killing people around the world...

  4. That's probably better than mine haha. We based ours around the superstition, that has a high theme in the play.I think you used the word "and" and the phrases "is responsible", "are responsible", "also responsible" too frequently...you could use microsoft word or a thesaurus to find a different word. I'm usually getting marked down for my repititions, anyway.

  5. Games for the Xbox can sometimes be dirt cheap, but there's less of a selection of them in stores (or so I've found). With the 360...don't you have to use batteries for the controllers? It would probably be annoying if you wanted to play around the clock for a day if the batteries run out after a few hours. The 360 has a better system than the Xbox.I chose Xbox though, I have both, but I'm always playing on my xbox (not quite sure why though, just personal preference, I guess?)

  6. I've never ever skipped a class. I wouldn't skip the really important lessons, like English where there's multiple GCSEs involved.I'm dying to run out of school when I'm about to do PE though. I walk to school everyday (a couple of miles each way), I'm reasonably fit, so I don't really need to run around a concrete pitch for an hour, do I?Where could I go to skip class? I can't really leave school because there's always police driving around my town (as there should be). I've never tried hiding in the toliets...but I couldn't spend a whole hour in there.

  7. People at my school get popular by joining in with the once-small group of smokers, so now when you walk around outside, there's a large number of kids on the streets smothered in clouds of cigarette smoke.I think it's a rather fickle thing, popularity. Are these people really your friends, or are they just after the large groups to hang out with, for company only?It would probably be better having a small group of close friends. It would be easier to spend time with them all, and you'd get to know them quicker - seeing as there is smaller number of people to talk to.And, if you had a large number of friends, wouldn't you have to buy a load of Christmas cards? :P:D

  8. Hello everybody :P I'm known online as Thing, offline as Pogo (that's not my real name though) and I spend equal time online as I do offline.I've been making websites for 6-7 years now, which would probably shock a few people because I'm still only a teenager. The websites I own are usually personal, but I've been known to own a large number of music-related fanlistings or a fansite or two.If I'm not online, i can usually be found reading a novel, playing guitar and just hanging out at my friends' houses. This website appealed to me, seeing as I've had trouble with domain hosting before, I figured I'd give it a go, and here I am.
