there must be something happening on the first account that isn't happening on the second account (whether it be driver or app). The best way to see what is happening using the Task Manager. (usually Ctrl + Alt + Del) (Or even better, Process Explorer from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/)This way you can see what applications are running. You can check the version of your drivers from the Device Manager. But this should be the same on both accounts.

as 04dsmith86 said one of the hardest parts of putting a computer is the processor! your right! it can be hard but if its done properly, its no problem, you just have to be very, very careful about what your doing! double check everything and make sure that the fan is down securely and it works! you dont want to be buying a new pc (or building a new pc) to find that it dies in a few hours from you overheating it!i have built every computer that I have every owned and its very rewarding, and it is so much cheaper! if you can get yourself down to a computer fair and purchase some parts, you could have the whole thing done in a weekend!if you are planning to build your own pc and it is your first time i would suggest getting some books that can help you through it! when i first put a computer together the books were an invaluable resource! get ones that can explain how parts work, as well as how much they should be, and of cause, how to put it together!happy computer building/modding-jimmy

If I understand what you are saying correctly, once you have logged in, the LED colours change back to red. This probably means that a program running on the laptop (one of the Dell preloaded apps) is changing it automatically. See if there is a Dell app that could be loading on startup that could be causing this.

I only know simple electonics but if you were to put a variable resister inline with the switch, you can then also control the speed at which the fan is running, and then turn it on/off if you want to! this is just an idea, im not sure if it would work - and im not willing to try it on my computer just yet!

you could also fork out a few dolars to purchase one of these. It fits into the 3.5" bay on your computer and provides a display of pc temps and controls fan speeds at the same time. Also, the blue light would look nice on any pc have a look at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ for heaps of other solutions!
