  1. I still think you should post your graphics card specifications.I know a few things about computers, and I *think* I could tell if the card is good enough for SIMS2.Don't give up just yet. Might just be the wrong drivers.-gothtec

    Quake2

I think quake 1 has a lot better feel to it. The graphics are darker, the sounds are better and the levels show a lot more effort. If you play glquake, even the quality of the graphics looks better to me...I think that after Quake 1, ID hasn't really made a high quality FPS game. Doom 3 felt incredibly linear and there were no large, open scenes or any interesting people your character could interact with like in HL2.One good thing about Quake 2, however, is that it'll run on almost anything.
  3. While it may not be classified as an energy drink, Coca Cola is what I drink at late nights.Half a litre of Coke contains about as much caffeine as a cup of coffee, and is more than enough to keep me going.IMO most energy drinks taste like *BLEEP* and give you really bad breath. Also, most of them are not considered safe to mix with alcohol, so I even use coke when I need to wake up a bit at parties. Of all of them, I'd say Battery tastes the worst. Not sure if you have that where you come from...
  4. I've played both NOLF 1 and NOLF 2 and I really didn't like any of them. The graphics may look good, but unlike engines such as Half-Life, the graphics engine of NOLF has always been bad and very demanding.I also had problems with the sound on NOLF 2, even though I own a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS, which should have no problems with almost any available sound technology. While the story is kind of alright, it is also a very linear game, with few choices and very few different strategical options. You have to do everything like the mission tells you to do it.
  5. Wherether your computer is a laptop or a stationary machine does not matter at all. What DOES matter is the hardware. That is probably where your problem is.A lot of today's computer manufacturers, especially companies like Compaq, advertise high CPU speeds and kind of forget about the rest. Take my father's old computer as an example. It's a Compaq that came with a Pentium 3 600 mhz CPU. With that, they supplied a mere 64mb of memory and a Savage 4 graphics card. This is not going to run anything well even if the CPU was capable of 6000 mhz. We upgraded it with a voodoo 3 graphics card and 256mb additional memory. That more than doubled the performance and, since memory was rather cheap at the time, it didn't cost a lot either.Anyway, most laptops made today suffer from a similar problem. The manufacturers seem to have finally understood a thing or two about memory, but the graphics controllers are often bad. New laptops from Dell, for instance, often come with an Intel Extreme Graphics chip with no specifications at all. Very few recent games will run well on those machines, even if it comes with a 2 ghz Centrino CPU. If Sims 2 wont run, you should check what graphics card you have. If nothing is specified, do a google search for "SiSoft Sandra", which is a freely available piece of software that can usually tell most of your hardware specs.
  6. I've been playing HL1 and CS since they came out.I've been playing HL2 and CSS since those came out.I don't play very often, however. There are a lot of people that really make CS their life and get terribly annoyed when they get killed, saying "LOL", calling me lucky and whatever. I hate such people. I play CSS about once every two weeks when I'm bored. Most often, I am quickly annoyed by people who can't speak, people who don't accept being killed and people who generally make a mess by shooting their own team and such.
  7. Could someone please explain to me what the point is with having an LCD in the trunk of your car? I've never seen ANYONE standing behind their car with a beer while watching a movie. Those LCD monitors seem to me like a complete waste of time, money, and most importantly SPACE. Where the **** is the room for the luggage? I personally hate colorful cars with blinking lights and everything. A coal black car with maybe some red headlights is more my style. One thing that truly sucks about NFSU2, by the way:I finished the game (beat the last guy) quite fast, using only two different cars along the way. I never even bought a SUV, cause I wanted to finish all the regular races first. However, once I had beat that guy, all other races disappeared and I couldn't even find a SUV race when I bought one. I had only completed 71% of the game, according to the stats screen, and it was impossible to proceed. That sucks.
  8. I beat HL2 the day it was released. I think it was a brilliant game with incredible graphics and everything. The system requirements are incredibly low, just like HL1, for its time.I run the game on this setup:Abit IC7-MAX31GB Geil Golder Dragon PC35003.1 GHZ Pentium 4 (overclocked)Sapphire Radeon 9800xt (overclocked and softmodded)2 200GB Seagate SATA discs in RAID 1..and I can run everything on maximum at my monitor's native resolution (1280x1024) with an FPS that never goes below 30. This is IMO extreme performance for my setup. I never expected to be able to do this when I bought the game, and I half expected that I'd have to get an X800 graphics card or something.Valve has done an excellent job. About the ending, I kinda liked it. It's about the same way HL1 ended. For your information, HL3 is already being planned, but I recon they'll put the release date so far ahead that their new engine will once again blow the minds of everyone.
  9. Gaming is only a waste of time if you have something else that really needs doing.Gaming requires A LOT more brain activity than i.e. watching TV (this has been scientifically proven)Gaming is not an antisocial activity if you are playing with people you know in a LAN or over the InternetGaming can, in many cases, both stimilate your brain to work and be educational (I am norwegian, and almost all of my knowledge of the english language comes from my use of games and computers in general)That's my five cents anyway...
