I recently passed my driving exam and I could not believe the amount of careless drivers I came across during my lessons. You just wonder how they ever passed their exams. I mean my instructor at the time regularly pointed out examples of bad and dangerous driving. It seems these guys pass their exams for the sake of getting their licences rather than actually learn how to drive safely. That's why I believe every driver should resit their exams or at least attend a refresher course every ten years or so.

I would probably go on never-ending holiday and travel the world. I would love to visit countries I have not been to and experience different cultures.

Today I was reading a news report on the BBC website about a study that was investigating the differences between left-handers and right-handers. Towards the end of the article, it said that left-handers are more likely to be in a car accident because they are thought to have poorer spatial skills. This makes a lot of sense to me because my driving lessons were a complete nightmare!!! I was always driving too close to curb or to parked cars on the side, It was difficult for me to judge spaces on the road. For example, I couldn't tell if I could pass oncoming cars safely on a small road. on the other hand, it seems left-handers have an advantage in some situations. The same website reported previously that left-handers are better in certain sports like boxing because "opponents simply do not expect a left-hook". This also makes sense to me because whether I'm playing cricket, tennis or other simlar sports, I usually last longer than my opponents since I always hit the ball in unexpected directions. One thing I hate though is when using gadgets like cameras and I have to hold them in an awakward way. The mouse I'm using right now is a right-hand one that I ve to constantly move to my left. What do you think? Do left-handers have an advantage or are they in disadvantage? what are your experiences of being left handed (if you have any)? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4242419.stm

The main reason why I use a pay as you go plan it is because easier to keep control on your calls and expenditure. It?s also takes out the shock factor when you receive a large monthly or quarterly bill, as you will be paying a fixed pre-paid amount with the pay as you go plans. I also think the plans are useful for people who use the phone on an irregular basis and they don?t have to worry about line rentals. I personally use t-mobile pay as go plan, but I generally find the different tariffs confusing, I usually stick with the standard tarrif.

Abortion : For Or Against Abortion? Share ur views on ABORTION?
maxfire replied to Milk's topic in General Discussion
I think abortion should be seen as a last resort option rather than a solution to every unwanted pregnancy. I think more work should be done on the prevention of unwanted pregnancies like educating teenagers about the consequences their actions, as they might not be aware of all the facts. However, I do agree with abortion for medical reasons, for example, if their was a risk to the mother's life from continuing the pregnancy. -
Yes, in some way I do believe in karma but not in the sense that people turn into different creatures in the next life that depends on their behaviour in the current life. The Karma I believe in is where people's behaviours during the current life are judged in the after-life. Those whose good behaviour and actions outweighs their bad ones are rewarded while those whose good actions are outweighed by their bad actions are punished. Obviously, the amount of reward or punishment depends on their actual behaviour.

I don't think video games are a complete waste of time. Video games are only a waste of time when they start to become an obsession and overtake someone's life. But if they are played for short hours on a regular interval they can become a recreational or a leisure activity like watching a movie. Personally, I would prefer to play a game rather than read a book. Anyway, scientists have proved that playing video games can improve your speed of reaction and reflexes, so it?s not a complete waste of time after all.

People Against The War And The Soliders I HATE THEM
maxfire replied to --Stealth--'s topic in The Vent
The soliders are not out there to make the lives of the American people better. They are out there to fill the pocket of Chaney with petrol-dollars. Because if they were, they would have been in North korea years ago. Iraq was never a threat while North Korea is till this day taunting the rest of the world with its self-declared weapons of mass destruction. I would rather show more respect to the soldiers who have abstained from participating in the illegal occupation of Iraq. These are the brave ones who have the courage to say no and stand up for their beliefs rather than take orders like brainless machines. -
Are Mobile Phones Dangerous? to the users health...
maxfire replied to googlue's topic in Mobile Phones
Yes, mobile phones are dangerous, so are other things, like crossing the road or walking under a bridge. I would rather ask; Are they dangerous enough to affect our health? I would say no because the amounts of radiotion that are emmitted are quite low. Using the mobile phone is just one more calculated risk we take and if used correctly and carefully, there won't be any lasting effects. Obviously, someone who using the phone constantly is undertaking more risk than someone who is using it less frequently. -
KERRY SUCKS! LIES LIES TELL AMERICA SWEET LITTLE lies
maxfire replied to sportzdawg's topic in The Vent
I don't like Bush or Kerry but I would rather had Kerry as president as a lesser of two evils. Having said that, I don't think Kerry would have been any different from Bush. It would have been political suicide if he overturned Bush's policies, especially the war on Iraq. I think most Americans would not want their troops to be pulled out of Iraq at this stage, they would rather have the troops finish the job. It also would have been difficult to do something quick about the economy and unemployment, these things take ages to fix. -
I actually discovered this site indirectly through the google search engine. For the last week I have been looking for a free web host to host my experimental website. I started off with the usual popular candidates like yahoo and tripod but I didn't like their service, especially the space and the ads. I have been typing a combination of word including "free" and "webhost" until i came across a website (can't remember the name) recommending Xisto. I looked at the website and I liked the service being offered. Then I came across the free-webhost.com site who had tons of positive feedback from its users. At this point I had no choice but to become a member of trap 17.

Three Minute Silence To Be Held Next Wednesday
maxfire replied to Dodger's topic in General Discussion
I agree with Caveman, no amount of silence can reflect the enormity of the tsunami earthquake disaster but any solidarity with the families of the victims will help them get through their anguish. It's also true that we tend to select the tragedies that we mourn, there are people dying everyday across the world which no body cares about. But what make this one different is the number of Westerners who also died. It make it more personal when your fellow countrymen are amongst the dead. -
Sad News For Asia Tsunami or Tidal Waves and Earthquake
maxfire replied to ashiezai's topic in General Discussion
This huge loss of life is very sad whenever it happens. It just shows you how we are all vulnerable to such disasters. One reason people may not feel as devestated as they were about 9/11 is that the tsunami was a natural freak disaster that could not have been planned for but I was actually surprised that no warning system existed in the South-east asia considering how prone this area is to earthquakes. I think the amounts being donated by the donor countries will not be enough in the long-run. The affected countries will need long-term assisstance to help re-build the affected areas. -
Companies will always outsource whenever they can reduce their costs elsewhere. They will save more by moving some of their operations to Asia because wages are much lower than those in the developed world. Some companies can save up up to half of their costs by moving operations like call centres abroad. This will mean even more companies will move abroad in order to remain competitive and not be forced out the market.

Yes, it is very easy to interpret but it is also very easy to take the verse out of its context and mis-interpret it. If you would have bothered to read the whole verse in full you would have interpreted it correctly. "And fight in the Way of Allah, those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, All?h likes not the transgressors." [2:190] "And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And oppression is worse than slaughter. And fight not with them at Sacred Mosque unless they (first) fight you there. But if they attack you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers". [2:191] Most Sane Muslims would not have any doubt about the meaning of the above verses; only fight in defence. only the few lazy idiots who can't even be bothered to finish the verse would jump to the wrong conclusion. As I said earlier, there is always an extremist minority who mis-interpret texts for their own agenda, the same way I could mis-interpret the sentences in red from the Bible ; "When you approach a city to fight it, offer it terms of peace. If it agrees to make peace with you and opens to you, all the people found in it shall become your forced labor and shall serve you. However, if it does not make peace with you, but makes war against you, besiege it. When the Lord your God gives it into your hand, kill all the men in it. Take as booty only the women, children, animals, and all that is in the city, all its spoils. Use the spoils of your enemies which the Lord your God has given you. . . Only in the cities of these peoples that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance. Do not leave alive anything that breathes" (Deuteronomy 20:10-17). Unfortunately the media tends to popularise the interprtations of extremists like Bin Laden & Co. to the point that their interprtations seem mainstream and orthodox to the outside world.
