in c#, how do i decide when to make a class(es) a DLL or when to implement it as just an exe? im a little vague on the area. in my mind, i would make a dll that contained a bunch of similar classes or classes that associate with one another and implement the exe file as just a interface class for the DLL (ie, like in say Java, have some Greeter class, and have a seperate GreeterTest class to instantiate the Greeter class) is this the right train of thought or am i completely off?

I have to write an application that supports multiple displays. I need to obtain the name of a given monitor and the adapter it is connected to (like SyncMaster 795MB / ATI Radeon 9200). I saw it is possible, but found no clean way on the Net... Location of these strings in the registry seems to vary with Windows version, and I also need to pair these names with monitor numbers (used in screen.monitors array) or monitor handles. Does anyone have info on this?Thx in advance!!

Anybody out there good with VBA and Excel? I am trying to search a sheet in a workbook (Sheet1), find out how many times particular values exists (int 1 to 54), then create a new workbook with a list of the values checked for and how many times they appeared.Been googling this, but everything I have found just confused me more, never done much with Office before. Thanks in advance for any help!!By the way, I am using Excel 2003 if that matters...

if i have multiple td tags in different rows, how can i make the same hover effect apply to all of the td tags that have the same classID? i can get the hover styles to apply individually to each tag, but i need them to occur at the same time. eg. when the mouse is placed over one of the td cells, the hover styles for each cell with the same classID should activate at the same time.__________________

The WhoShort Disclaimer: You may or may not notice that I did not mention everything The Who have released, or all the people in their line-up at all times. Nor did I mention Tommy(the movie) or Quadrophenia (the movie). I wanted to focus on The Who?s music in their prime years, rather than their various reunions and films. ?Ok, if you hate The Who, you won?t like it. *BLEEP* you.? -Pete Townshend (talking about the Thirty Years of Maximum R&B Box Set). The Very Best of the Who1996: Live at the Isle of Wight2000: BBC Sessions2002: Ultimate Collection2002: Live at the Royal Albert Hall2004: Then and Now: 1964-2004Few bands in rock history have had the talent, ability, energy, and impact as The Who did from the mid 60?s to the late 70?s. Starting as an offshoot of the British Invasion, the Who evolved to become one of the most powerful and one of the greatest rock n? roll bands of all time. Though by definition they weren?t a super-group (the members were not already established as premier musicians before The Who took off), they arguably had the talent to be one. Destroying equipment, blowing up bass drums, Townshend?s windmill, Daltrey?s power and sex appeal, and Entwistle?s ?eye of the hurricane? approach to the stage show are all defining parts of The Who that make them a legend in their time and into today. Pete Townshend was the artistic leader of the band, and he constantly moved them in new directions to reach areas no rock bands had been and few have been since. Aside from his artistic creativity, his guitar playing was very good. He is often overlooked because he did not do many solos or much flashy guitar work, but he fit the band perfectly. Not only was Townshend a capable guitarist, but his songwriting ability is up there with the best. Townshend also sang background vocals and occasionally lead vocals, making him even more valuable to the band. Roger Daltrey, the singer of the group, started as a great singer with solid range and glimpses of power. His versatility allowed him to progress into a power-rock front man, and his amazing stage presence propelled The Who?s live shows throughout their career. But the real focus of The Who is usually on the rhythm section (or in The Who?s case, the lead instrumental section). John Entwistle was a pioneer in bass playing, as he was one of first players to show that bass could be the lead instrument in rock music. He immediately made his presence known in The Who with his heavy sound and distorted bass, like the fills in My Generation . Entwistle also added solid backup vocals, which gave The Who more dimensions in their vocal harmonies. And then ,of course, there is Keith Moon. Moon was a defining aspect of The Who, and a key part of why they were so different from almost all other bands. His attacking drum style, blazing speed, and constant fills would become a trademark of The Who, especially in their live show. Although Keith is usually noted for being a crazy man on the drums, he tends to show a significant amount of control on their studio albums. There are more fills than other drummers, but enough restraint so as not to ruin the track. Instrumentally, Entwistle and Moon led the band. Townshend was a good guitar player, but he usually found himself pounding out power-chords and solid riffs in the role of a rhythm player while John and Keith took the role as lead players. That is not to say that Pete never played lead or that he could not solo, however. Townshend and Entwistle first met each other in high school, and initially played in a Dixieland band together (John was on trumpet and Pete was on banjo) in 1962. In 1963, Entwistle left to play bass for the newly formed Detours, with singer Roger Daltrey already in place. Soon, Townshend joined them band on guitar. Not long after, there was a drumming void, and Keith Moon was added to the band. They changed their name to The Who in 1964. After struggling for a few months to progress, the band met an interested manager in Pete Meaden. Under his direction, the band became known as the High Numbers and began wearing suits and playing more of an R&B style. Their first single contained I?m the Face/Zoot Suit , but it faired poorly. Meaden was cut, and they reformed as The Who. I Can?t Explain was the band?s next single, and it did much better. After the band played a TV performance that featured Moon and Townshend destroying their instruments, The Who starting gaining popularity. As I Can?t Explain had jumped to the British Top Ten, the band was now ready to record an album. The Who Sings My Generation was built around the title track, also released as a single. The album showcases the raw style of the band early in their career. There is noticeable influence of R&B, blues, and Motown, added into the Who?s style of power rock. Its lasting legacy to music is undoubtedly My Generation . This song displays the defiant attitude of the band and Townshend?s infamous, ?hope I die before I get old? line. The rebellious nature of the song even became somewhat of an influence on the future punk movement, which would start to see its true beginnings in just a couple years. Also seen here are instrumental statements of Entwistle and Moon. As mentioned before, Entwistle?s fills are remarkable. The end of the song features Moon all over the drums, producing a wall of sound that no other drummer of the time could even hope to emulate. The song would also become a key part of their live show for the upcoming years. The single Substitute was released shortly after that album, and met more British success. The song itself is a solid pop tune with great drumming and good vocals. The Band again prepared for more studio work. The Who?s next record would prove to be an interesting one, to say the least. Titled A Quick One (in Britain) or Happy Jack (in America), it would expand on the base of The Who to showcase a wide variety of music. The tracks range from the circus type music of Cobwebs and Strange (which features amazing drumming from Moon, it?s somewhat of a mini drum solo) to the ten minute mini-opera of the title track, A Quick One . This is Townshend?s first experiment with a lengthy piece that centered on a theme. The plot concerns a woman who cheats on her husband while he is away for a long time. Musically, the song moves through six movements that run together successfully. Also on the album were the strange Happy Jack and even stranger Boris the Spider , both of which are solid and are now well known tracks. The most important parts of this album were the fact that the band was certainly showing signs of evolution (which were necessary to further develop and survive as the 60?s died out), and the mini-opera concept Townshend was starting to create. This idea would become more important on the band?s next album, and eventually reach a climax on Tommy. Their next record, The Who Sell Out (1967), is debatably a concept album that centers on a mock radio broadcast program. Between nearly every song, there is a short mock radio jingle. The album even includes the band advertising certain products in song form, as the title would suggest. There are some rather obvious examples of this, such as Heinz Baked Beans , and other examples that can actually stand alone as solid songs, like Odorono . There is even some dabbing in psychedelia (after all, it was 1967) like on Armenia, City In the Sky . The Who take full advantage of the studio to produce this record, though the music itself still has a bit of the raw essence of the early Who. These early albums do not tend to present the loud raucous Who that their live show represented; instead, there is a strong sense of melody and control. Moon shows remarkable constraint (for him, at least) on songs like Tattoo . Sunrise, I Can?t Reach You, and Our Love Was showed Townshend?s softer side as a songwriter. I Can See For Miles was the only the album?s top ten hit and the only track that got radio play and it features great singing from Roger and typical Keith Moon drumming. However, the real climax of the album is Rael , and religious conceptual experiment. The Who even develops some of the instrumental themes for Tommy on this song (mostly from songs like Sparks or The Underture ). They were now only a short step away from

In the function we can make the check that if selected value for year is current year and selected value for month is greater than current month then it ll show some error message and reload the page i m trying this but do not get results. May be i m having some mistake in syntax. can anyone tell me how to get selected value in a variable in javascript or some other way out to achieve this.I have applied same technique on text box value. its working fine. but with combobox.......... i dont know whats the prob.

I just wanted to know if let's say you have a file called tempfile.dat and it is being used by dozens of parts of a script to transfer data, what happens if both scripts run at the same time and use the tempfile? will it throw a text file is busy error or will it patiently wait until a script is done using it before it uses it?Because if i send information to the tempfile, then close it, then reopen it again to transfer back the information, I don't want the other script to start using it in the middle of that sequence or the results will be catastrophic.Any info appreciated.

Dear,Has anyone had experience with returning large sets of data to a dynamically built HTML table?I am returning about 1000 rows from a ORACLE Server. These 1000 rows are placed into an HTML table with about 25 different columns.I am trying to find out where is it that is slow, taking about 30 seconds for the table to display once the browser is launced. So far I think it is the actual rendering of the huge HTML table to the browser that is slow.1) It is not SQL. Takes about 4 seconds execution time for my SQL statement to bring back 1000 rows. This should be acceptable given it has lots of conversions from datetime to varchar.2) I am using Java Beans which generate the Dynamic HTML output to the JSPs.3) I can tell from the print stack that the HTML table rows are being built fast. Between the completion of the HTML table and displaying to the browser, there is about a 7-8 second lag time. Is this the time the browser takes to render the HTML table?Has anyone been through this before? Thanks.

I've been scouring the web looking but I cant seem to get the answer I want. Is there a Journaled file system for BSD or just for Linux. I'm fairly new to this side of things so I'm a little confused as to why a file system that works on linux wouldn't work on BSD. Personally I think its a real shame if it can't be done because BSD seems to be stuck back with older file systems like UFS .What i suppose I'm doing is comparing Linux to BSD and trying to figure out which is best, in my own way. The best IMO being the one which supports the best technology. Thanks a lot .

hi,i have a question about scroll bars for frames. i have two frames on my page and both have scrolling set to "yes". it works like i want in IE; even if there is no need for a scroll bar there is a faded out scroll bar that takes up the space.in fire fox and nestscape navigator there is no faded scroll bar when there is no need for one. there's just an ugly white gap. is there a way to make the scroll bar appear faded like it does in IE? or maybe there's a way to always heighten the area just enough so that the scroll bar is always neccessary.thanks,

Hi, I am attempting to deploy a web app. I compile it and make it a war. I restart tomcat and the war is distributed. I then go onto the internet and type in: LOCALHOST:8080/manager/deploy?path=/myapp a few different things have happened when I have typed in the same thing. The most prevelant error is: FAIL - Failed to deploy application at context path /myapp...is this error because of my build file or because of my web.xml file?? or neither? One time the stupid thing actually deployed. I went back and checked my directory and all my files were gone! The folders were still there but the files were not there, so then I had a web app with no content...does anyone know how the files were missing like that. All these other tries the whole app dissaears each time I deploy any suggestions?? Thanks!!

Is there a way to prevent the activation/deactivation of a form? I have tried intercepting the WM_ACTIVATE message but I was not able to successfully cancel it. The scenario that this is needed for is a parent form creates multiple child forms each hosting a axWebbrowser. I would like to have it so that the only way that a form can be activated is if a user clicks that form. In the case of the browser when it refreshes I do not want it to activate the form it's on unless it's already active. If I need to clarify anything or provide more information please let me know. Thanks

Hi,My upload and resizing scripts are working perfectly. Problem is clients are uploading large files and the script times out or connection timeout.Problem is with the bandwith and the slow connection in South Africa. I have increased the script timeout but it simply takes too long to upload.Clients forget that most didgital cameras files are massive and if they simple resize before uploading it will save them a huge amount of time. The final file is only 280 X 210 pixels.Uploading a 5Mb file over a 56k connection takes a month of Sundays.I have detailed instruction on how to resize a file with numerous programs. Unfortunately the client who I developed the site for thinks it is way to complicated to resize a picture before uploading. Is there a script or any way I can resize the pictures before uploading?Kind regards,

Hi, I've created an application using MySQL n Delphi 5, I now would like to create a cut down version, which i can distribute to customers where they just install the App and nothing else, basically im looking for a database that can totally be embedded into my application or a .dll, so that no extra installs or files need to be install.Ive heard of a product called SQLite, but no1 was prepared to recommend it as theyve never used it before. Have you used it?? Would you recommend it?? Are there any alternatives you could recommend that would work for me???Thanks

Hopefully I can explain my problem clearly. If not, please ask any questions to clarify.I'm looking at an issue where I'd need to make reference counted smart pointers multi-thread safe on a UNIX platform via mutexes. Object-embedded mutexes are not an option because of the memory footprint increase. Therefore, it was decided we use a static mutex that locks the entire class out from the reference count (i.e., only one smart pointer on the entire system at a time can do a reference count operation). BTW, these design decisions aren't mine to make. The issue I'm trying to wrap my head around right now has to do with the "boundaries" between executables and libraries, because these smart pointer objects are shared between a main executable and a bunch of modules (DLLs) in the current Windows implementation (which both include the same smart pointer header definition). I'm told that a static mutex in the smart pointer header would not work in this Windows environment, because each module would have a static mutex, when what I need is one global static mutex. (Side note: We get around this in windows using the InterlockedIncrement functions, but atomic assembly instructions are not available on the platforms we need to support).Since I'm not sure, my first question is if it is in fact true that in the Windows (.exe / .dll) situation, each module would in fact have it's own static member for that class. But the more important question is would this also be true on a UNIX platform where libraries are compiled separately and linked together? Would it make a difference between statically linked and dynamically linked libraries? Any insight is GREATLY appreciated, and feel free to ask questions if I'm not being clear. Thanks a bunch.

Currently I have ICONS (JPGs) on a number of my pages that, when clicked, allow the user to hear a specific audio (WMA)file related to the page. The problem is that when the icon is clicked, the audio file plays, but it opens (in this case) the Windows Media Player. I am trying to avoid that from happening. My workaround is to create a separate, new window (small in size), that opens and has the sound file attached to the background of the new window, playing automatically when opened. This works...I can also make about 30 of these little windows for each of the 30 sound files on all the different pages. Is there a way I can just play each sound without any change to the current window (no media player showing)?IF NOT, is there a way I can use a single "new window" that somehow "gets" the specific sound file each time (without creating 30 of these things) and plays it as the background soud of the new window? Thanks,

My problem just started. An example is the banner ad here on this thread at the top. It says "Action Canceled" Internet Explorer was unable to link to the web page. I also get alot of the "Page can not be displayed". I have this problem on countless websites and it is also screwing with my weather bug so I can't even view my local radar or forecast. Is this a possible Java or Active X problem? When I click on the banner ad then properties I get a URL address that starts with re http:// Can anyone HELP? I have tried to restore, reset web settings, run adware, spybot and even uninstalled SP2. Nothing fixes this problem. The problem is when I click the back button it has to cancel the action on the banner that is not open thus making me have to click the back button 2 times per page. Hope this makes sense.

Hi, I have been doing C and a bit of C++ for a while now, however I am unsure where to go next or what to concenrate on. People have told me about Visual C#, however I am not too sure how much like C/C++ it is. I have also been told about Visual C++ but I always thought it was a Microsoft C++ IDE. Could someone please explain the differences in all of the C variants (ojective C ), and if possible what each ones pros and cons are. I am mainly looking into optimised windows applications. Thanks for all of your help.
