    Manga

I used to read shojo manga a lot, I just loved it. There was one author I particularly liked, oh, what was her name. I think she wrote Ranma, Rumiko Takahashi, that's right. But I haven't read it in a long time. It just got to be too expensive. All comics are so expensive these days and there isn't as much in them as there used to be. Ah, I can remember the days when 200AD was a good comic.
  2. Ah, I saw some of my own favourite authors there. Terry Practchett; I love the Discworld books, especially the ones about the Watch in Ankh-Morpork or the witches. I especially liked the last one that was published in paperback, "The Monstrous Regiment". Let's see, Edgar Allen Poe, HG Wells, JG Ballard, Ray Bradbury, Elinor Brent Dyer, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Alexander McCall Smith, CS Lewis, Ursula leGuin, Manley Wade Wellman, Wilkie Collins, Charlotte Bronte. That's what I can think of, off the top of my head. Probably some others. I also like poetry, by Christina Rossetti, Robert Frost and Gerard Manley Hopkins.
  3. My favourites: Dead ManOnce Upon A Time in MexicoBrief EncounterHeroSome Like It Hot
  4. The last movie I went to see in the cinema was Finding Neverland, a couple of weeks ago. Yes, a Johnny Depp movie! I can't wait for the end of the year when his next newest one comes out, The Libertine. In a magazine interview, he said he wouldn't reccomend it to anyone under the age of 26 as it's very adult! On dvd, the last movie I saw was King Arthur. It was all right, not terribly wonderful, but not too bad either. And it was nice to see an attempt at telling the story of the real King Arthur. (And Lancelot was nice, as well as being played by a Welsh actor!)
  5. I looked around for an introductions thread, but couldn't find a specific one. So I hope it's okay to post here instead. Okay, well, my name is Seren, I'm 43 (don't faint!), married with a daughter who is at university in Wales. I live in a small village, oh, and I have 6 cats. I don't work because of health problems, so I have far too much time on my hands to build website and surf the 'net. I warn you now, I'm addicted to forums! LOL!! The free webhosting is nice, but it's the forums I like best. I'm a terrible chatterer too. What else do you want to know about me? I'm a Pagan, absolutely adore Johnny Depp (my avatar is of him, as Agent Sands in Once Upon A Time In Mexico) and I'm learning Welsh. I look forward to getting to know you.
  6. I've spent four years in New Zealand, one day and a night in Singaore, one week in Paris and the rest of my life in England and Wales! Oh, and I've visited Scotland as well. I would love to go to Moscow. I don't why, I just have this hankering to go there. I would also love to go to Barcelona to see La Sagrada Familia as I love Gaudi's architecture. After that, probably Canada and back to New Zealand to see how much it's changed since I was there in the 1970's.
  7. Hello! It's the new girl here. I am learning Welsh so here are a few Welsh phrases that might be of some use. Cyfarchion y Tymor -- means, season's greetings.Gyda phob dymuniad da am Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda -- means with best wishes for Christmas and the new yearNadolig Llawen -- ChristmasIt might look like gobbeldiegook, but honestly, that is all correct.Pob luck! (good luck!)
