Is It True Or Hoax Gmail Service Shutting Down? donotreply@gmail.com
smartbei replied to brainet's topic in The Internet
To make sure exactly where a message is from, click "More Options" and then click "Show Original." Usually you can find some random address where the message is really from, perhaps just a php script on some website.Besides, this message is a no-brainer. The real problems are some of the more advanced phishing scams, etc. -
First of all, you have a very nicely done, organized site. I like the simple-style layout and the fast loading time due to the fact that you don't barage the user with images. I do have several suggestions for improvement; though I am sure that not everyone would agree with them : The top menu with the buttons "Home", "About", etc. Could be a javascript/CSS drop down, especially for the button "Affiliates", for example. Personally I like sites better with the navigation at the left, but that is more of a personal preferance thing. The search feature could output instead of whole posts just headings to click on, so you can scan through. Really though, I think that your site is very good, with interesting articles and an easy-use and simple navigation system.

Styles can also be used in a case by case basis, if you want to change the attributes of one object. For example, to set the color, size and font of the text inside a div: <div style="color:red; font:bold 15pt Arial Black;">Sample Text</div> And to set the placement of a div relative to the top left corner of a document (50 pixels from the left and 100 pixels from the top): <div style="position:absolute; left:50; top:100;">Sample Text</div>

From my experiance MSN is easier to use if all you have is MSN. However, I had AIM, MSN, Yahoo and ICQ and friends that use all of these networks. Therefore, it made much more sense to use Trillian than have four different programs open, even if some of the newest features in MSN are not present in Trillian.I never had a problem with reliability, and was always able to get in fine, unless of course the problem was with the chat company (aol, msn, etc.). Signing in always does take a long time though...But signging into four different messengers would take longer.

Well, while I would love to have a pentium 4 3.6 ghz processor in my computer, it is out of my price range. Borghuinter and Saga, I think that your recommendations are good, but as I said, they are out of price range.Currently I am looking at a system with a Pentium 4 3Ghz 64bit, 80Gb hardrive (enough for me even with heavy programs - I have never filled more then 25 Gb), 512mb ram at 400/533 Mhz, an ATI Radeon9250 graphics card with 128Mb. What do you guys think? Are there any relatively cheap improvments I could make in order to increase the computer's "effectiveness"? Thanks.

Im Locked Out Of Windows Xp? I own the computer and im locked out
smartbei replied to illdevilinc's topic in Software
Well, if the computer is running XP Home you can reboot the computer and go into safe mode (tap f8 while it is booting and select safe mode from the list) and then you can change all the passwords to all the accounts, including administrator, without knowing the original password. This is what I have done when I forgot my password. I think that answers your problem, if I understood correctly. -
I am looking to buy a decent mild-gamer computer and I need some help with picking and choosing parts. I will be using some high-end applications such as Solidworks (3d design program), Adobe Photoshop, and Macromedia Flash. I want a computer that will be able to run these well, and be stable enough that I won't need to reboot as much as I do with the current computer. I have no need of a DVD writer, and have about 2500 NIS (New Israeli Shekels) to spend (roughly $550-$600) not including the monitor. Any recommended specifications would be great, and if your from Israel, perhaps recommended places to buy computers or parts (not much hope of that ). Thanks in advance!

The Issue: The U.S. Judicial Courts have requested search records from the major search engines (including google, yahoo, aol according to the article) to submit search records in order to prove that child pornography is possible to find on the internet with little trouble. According to the department of justice, they won't read the documents in a more then cursory way. However, Google is not complying with the courts' requests, because it says it wants to protect the privacy of it's users. Also, Google has said that they face the loss of business if their users find out about Google giving the courts access to the records. Other search engines including Yahoo, MSN and AOL have already complied with the request. My Opinion I believe that Google is correct in its resistance of the federal courts' request, because complying with this request creates a precedent that could be used in future cases with less of a solid background. For example, suppose the Bush administration decides that all forms of pornography should be banned (not all that far-fethced), and requests search engines' support, would we want them to give it? I believe that the freedom of speech, as the first ammendment of the U.S. Constitution, is more important than any law, regardless of the case. This is further reinforced by the fact that the internet as a whole has been given the highest level of protection available by the first ammendement by some U.S. government body or other. Food for thought: What should the search engines have done? How great is the first ammendment's "trump" of other laws? Does/Should freedom of speech have limits? Who should decide them?

Based on articles: Abortion Returns to Center Stage Partial Birth Abortion - Abortion Ban Issue 3 years ago, in 2003, the U.S. congress overwhelmingly passed a law banning partial birth abortion, in which a fetus over 20 weeks in age (~5 months) and up to around the 6-7th month is aborted. Supporters of the law stated then that it is immoral, to kill a human that within a month in some cases could be born and survive, given medical help. Opponents said that a woman's right to choose should be her own, and the congress has no right to take it from her. Now, the issue is "coming back" because of three federal appeals courts because the law does not provide for exceptions where the woman's health or life is in danger. The supreme court has agreed to consider the constitutionality of the law, and eventually decide whether to overturn it or not. The issue is heated, but polls show that most people still view abortions as immoral or wrong, and would not consider one themselves. Is it an issue of Whose life is more important? or an issue of The lesser evil? Not neccesarily about this specific method but generally, how about abortion in cases of rape? As a person with political beliefs all over the spectrum, I believe that while the abortion technique mentioned (partial birth) is especially "ugly," the life of the mother in this case has more importance, and for the sake of saving the mother's life an abortion must be condoned. A case of a rape is much more difficult, at least for me, to analyze. On the one hand, the fetus/baby did nothing wrong and should not be punished/killed for no fault of its own. On the other, the mother should not have to suffer through pregnancy and childbirth, and later have to care for the child because of a rapists actions.

During one of routine scans my viruscan did, it told me it had 5 .exe files that were infected by the Parite virus. After looking online I found a removal tool by BitDefender, which apparently didn't notice the viruses. I also found a website telling me to download a recovery file to a uninfected computer (something I don't have access to), put it on a disk, run the infected computer in Safe Mode and run the disk to clear the viruses. So far I have tried:Grisoft AVG - found the viruses but didn't remove themBitDefender Parite removal tool - didn't even find the virusesBitDefender Proffesional Edition viruscan - didnt find the virusesAnyone know any way to remove the virus? Apparently it spreads quickly to other .exe files, and I really have no idea how to remove it.

Search Engines: Have you submitted your website to search engines? Here are some sites that do that for you for multiple engines: http://www.freewebsubmission.com/ http://www.addpro.com/submit30.htm Note that the websites overlap some in the search engines they submit to. Meta Tags: Also, you should add to the "<head>" section of your site in html meta tags that help search engines index your site. See the following pages for help on that: https://searchenginewatch.com/sew/how-to/2067564/how-to-use-html-meta-tags http://www.submitexpress.com/free-tools/meta-tags-generator/ Other than that, I have had the same problem and am really not sure what a good solution is. Some of my sites show up in google today, and others don't. Who knows.
