  1. Yes I play nwn on linux but since I just started ( I am discovering the city now) I doubt that I could talk allot about it, only that it is a nice rpg game...The only thing bothering me is that the linux client has a sound problem with the speach. Not all conversations have sound (luckely you can also read them). And that when you load a new 'level' you see tips but since it loads so *darn* fast it is imposible to read those. But besides that it is a awesome game :P

  2. Just use what feels best for you. Some like Firefox while others prefure to use IE or other native browsers like Opera (or mac side Safari which is btw based on the linux browser konqueror). What ever you like to use aslong as it does what you want and feels right for you thats oke. But just try some other browsers before you zay that yours is the max, since there is more between the internet heaven and earth :PFor myself I like to use firefox since I really am into the tab-browsing thing and the good css support (transparant png files enyone :) )

  4. Since I use windows 2% of my computertime I have a simple but good free virus scanner on it namely avast. Its free and does not load such big files as for example norton or mc-afee but it does its job and thats whats important. For firewall I use a linux box with iptables running and offcourse the normal nat firewall builth in my router (but that on sux).Yes 2% of my time I work in windows and thats only because I need to because of 1 program I need for my study that does not work in anyway on my main os linux.Speaking of linux since there are also some trojans-worms for that os I also use a virusscanner at that installation (not really needed but better save as sorry) namely f-prot which is also a good windows or dos scanner.

  5. Thats not such a problem since your post history indeed shows that you have more as two post already, guess its just a small forum bug.The mods and admins can view your true amount by viewing your post history just like other members (and you to) so stay relaxt you still can apply for hosting when you have 10 post with a minimum of 3 lines.

  6. Actually your right! Firefox sucks! I use Opera, it renders the website faster than firefox and it does not consume my computer's memory! I know that Opera is not free, so I have registered a site license. If you need the license, just PM me then i'll send you the serial number...

Oke been of this discusion for a while but I agree with you in a way.

I myself am an firefox user for a long time allready (started of with phoenix) but I also used Opera for a while before I went over. Opera indeed is fast in rendering pages and perhaps even faster then firefox, altrough if you know your way around in "about:config" you can improve the speed in firefox allot.

The main reason for me to stop with Opera is the same reason I stopped with mozilla namely the bunch of crap that comes with it that I dont need nor want. If there was a lite version of opera I would use it right away but aslong they ship it with things I dont need I ll stick to firefox.

In firefox I can choose what 'extra' option I want by installing extentions and to tell you the truth I only have one extention installed namely the gmail extention that notifies (I hope thats the way its spelled) me if there is new mail on it...

    :(

  7. If you have Windows you can use Notepad as an html editor, but with Notepad you need to wirte your html codes if you don't know html I recomend you to start with Front Page or Macromedia Dreamweaver.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

lol I still find this very funny all so called hardcore coders tell other people the notepad is the thing to use for webdesigne and coding.... I duno why but this is making me laugh.

If you want a nice free html editor you could look into tsw which has Syntax Highlighting, tabcontrol, css and js support, tag completion (if you want) and more.

  8. xmms and mplayer sometimes also mp3blaster when I am in consolle only :(I cant speak for windows since I dont have this software on it, the only thing I have installed on (my stripped) windows is 1 single game, but in the days I ussed windows allot I worked with winamp 2.x and bsplayer. The reason I use xmms is that there are many pluggins for it and it feels steady to me, I know that there a better and cleaner players but I like xmms (much like winamp 2.x on windows) and even after trying a fewe others I always came back to it.

  9. sounds like a bunch of cheap Physicists to me, who wish to have everything working perfect rather than needing to buy more than one item. i basiclly pay for no software though so i can definatley see that an alternative is sought after. anything good people tell me about, i will find the trial, then download a patch/crack/keygen insted of paying, as i feel alot of the software is overpriced

it is not hard to get cracks and *BLEEP* for free, someone posted 'gamemaker version 6' up in the programming section of these forums, and i now own the full verison, free

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

So if you think some software or game is realy good you reward the makers by 'stealing' it ?

Makes perfect sence to me :(

  10. a pentiumII 300 is not the fastest computer around, but never the less should be oke to play CS and Sims-1 in a way. I think that the main factor of the lacky performance is your videocard, try to get a 2th hand 3dfx or even better a tnt2 with 32mb also putting in another 64 mb of ram cant do any harm. But dont try any modern games on it since your pc (even after your ' upgrade' ) is to outdated for them.

  11. Yeah hatebreed! :)

Simple and fine if you got a video card matching it.

But seriously, gentoo linux, all the way.

We just need a few programmers and companies

which don't stick to ESTABLISHED MONOPOLIES.

    ...but guys...aren't we ignoring WINE?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Even if you take wine or cedega to this conversation windows still bats us with games, I tried wine and cedega for a couple of games and yes some run well under it but I am a worms player and I never got it to work in wine or wineX, Oke basic game worked but i want to play online and that did not work, alltrough games like HL and CS did work flawlessly in Wine :D

And hello felow Gentoo user :D
