  1. I would have to say that the Xbox 360 has it for me. A lot of people are basing their opinions on what was shown at like G4tv and what they saw from the E3 convention earlier this year. Microsoft messed up when they came up with their demos and displays for the Xbox 360. They even admitted after they showed off their demos that the graphics were not fine tuned yet in what they were displaying. Sony on the other hand, not rushing to release their product, fine tuned their demos and focused primarily on the graphics part of the demos. This in turn made Microsoft's Xbox 360 look plain compared to the games shown on the PS3. I think that once everything is released, both the PS3 and the XB360, then you won't be able to tell one game from the other. You have to understand also, that before Microsoft came along with the Xbox that Sony had a large customer base with the PS2. The PS2 did so well because at the time Nintendo had cheesy kids games and nothing with any real content. Sony released a huge assortment of games for all genres and hit it home within gaming market. Now Microsoft comes along with the Xbox and Sony keeps their customers that migrated from Nintendo over to their PS and developes the PS2. They both duke it out and Sony holds the majority due to its original customer base. Microsoft does however turn a large number of heads and starts to draw a crowd with their awesome gaming console. Point being, Sony and Microsoft will both do very well with both of these game platforms. The Xbox360 will have great games that attract gamers due to the content and graphics and the PS2 will have an advantage due to its original customer base and its huge array of games. I'd go with Microsoft.
  2. The prices are very affordable considering this is a launch price. Remember when the first Xbox and PS2 came out how much they were. They were around the same price as this launch will cost ya, but look at how much you are getting with the Xbox 360 compared to when the older consoles came out. Also, think about how this consoles price will drop down after it's been out on the market for a while. I think it's an great price for such an awesome product.
  3. I know what you mean about when the first consoles came out. I remember the first time I played Duck Hunt on the Nintendo; man I was amazed at the graphics and the way it played. It does seem as though computers and consoles are pretty much the same now. I'm really excited to see exactly what these 2 new consoles will actually do after all the hype of E3. I saw both the demos of the Xbox360 and the PS3 and they both look good. I think Microsoft kinda shot themselves in the foot a bit by showing their games without perfecting the graphics first. Especially when Sony used that to their advantage by showing game renditions instead of actual game play on their games. Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see what they actually look like when they come out later this year and the beginning of next year.
  4. I've had a similar problem to this one once and it was my processor overheating. You might want to try putting a diffent heatsink/fan on the processor. Also you might want to check your RAM. Make sure it is pushed all the way in and clipped. If you have the spares hanging around try isolating these parts first and see what happens.
  5. We need to get your computers specs to know for sure. What's you processor speed? How much RAM do you have (very important) and how much free memory do you have? How much Video RAM and what's your Video Cards Processor speed (very important)?how many background programs do you have running? What DirectX version are you running? These would help for us to determine what's going on.
  6. This is definatelly one of the best gaming websites around. I like the layout of the website as far as sorting and just searching for individual games or genres. I especially like the fact that you can search game consoles and PC games. They usually have some pretty good reviews/previews and videos for upcoming games as well as ones that have been out for a while. If you become a member you have access to some cool demos of upcoming games and special videos. A great website indeed.
  7. When I first heard this was coming out I was so ecstatic about seeing it. I thought that Pitch Black was something really good that they could build off of. I saw the movie and I wasn't as blown away as I thought I would be. It seemed like they took a natural world and just regular humans and gave them just enough powers to make them boring. I wish they would of made them stronger or something. They pumped up this race of beings to be like gods walking around killing planets and when it came time to do something all they could do was teleport. What about blowing some stuff up with flames from their eye balls or farting lightning bolts or something. I just wish the movie had turned out a little better and I'm not sure that they will finish the trilogy after seeing how this one turned out. I don't know it's just my opinion.
  8. By far one of the best trilogies of all time. I would have to rate it right next to the original Starwars trilogy. I have read the books as well and I agree that the books were better than the movie, but the things they did with that movie were awesome. The CG was awesome and the way they translated the story into film was really good. I remember that I saw the fellowship right before the two towers came out and I couldn't believe it. I had never even heard of the LOTR until the movie and then wham!, it was like LOTR everywhere. Awesome, Awesome movies.
  9. Oh man I love both of those movies. Everytime either one of those comes on I just have to watch it. My favorite line in the movie is when Chris Tucker says "Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth" and he's screaming into Jackie's ear. Man that is hilarious. Also when he says "don't never, ever, ever, ever touch a black mans radio" and he starts dancing in the car. Man I almost peed myself laughing at that. I'm so glad that they will release another movie in 2006 for this. Way to go!
  10. I would have to say that Final Fantasy 7 was my favorite RPG. I really enjoyed the story line and the characters were cool. I thought that the whole leveling system and magic was cool. After FF7 I would probably say that Diablo 2 was really good. It was fast paced and easy to learn.
  11. Just thought I would ask how many background services does everyone have running on their PC's. My laptop at work running Windows 2000 has 52 processes running and my home PC running XP has like 50. Whats the fewest processes you have ever seen running at one time and what's the most you have seen?
  12. Thanks that is something good to know. I wasn't aware that you could just copy it over onto a Windows 2000 OS and use it without hitches. This simplifies things a lot for me. Thanks again.
  13. This thread will probably go to infinity and beyond because as we all know this is a battle that has been ongoing ever since AMD broke out and started competing with Intel. Me personally, I just like the fact that AMD is around to keep Intel in check with their prices. Not to mention the fact that they are really giving Intel a run for their money with the performance of processors today. I mean they got balls to release a line of 64 bit processors and cut Intel off at the chase. I think Intel may have the edge on true processoing power, and this will always be a factor when people make that important decision of buying a processor. One of AMD's major faults is probably their cooling. Everyone knows that they have had some problems in the past with processors overheating. But, as I said earlier the pricing that AMD holds is what made me buy my first AMD processor and has had me buying them ever since. They both have goods and bads and it seems the differences between the two are getting less and less as time goes by. All I can say is choose wisely Obi Wan and may the force be with you!
  14. I have seen a lot of adds and heard a lot of talk about VOIP. I was wondering if anyone has actually used this and what they think about it. I know there are a few variations of the product like home service and business service. I guess my real question is does the quality suffer any because it is packet based or is it really seamless like they make it sound. What are you experiences with this?
  15. I would probably buy the Xbox 360 before the PS3. You can't go by the demos that they showed at E3 this year because most of that stuff wasn't actual gameplay. I just think Microsoft was in such a hurry to release the 360 that they didnt' put all the visuals into the games. That's why they paled in comparison to the PS3's demo. If you look now on like gamespot or any other gaming websites you'll see that the gaming for both systems look about the same. Not to mention the games that will be coming out on the 360 are looking better and better than they did at the actual E3 demo. I'm not ready just yet to shell out the 300-400 on a new system, but if I were I'd go with the 360.
